"A Slice of the Pie" • WI State Fair, North Lake Vet., WI Brewing Co. • August 14-16, 2015

Posted by Cherry Pie

A Word from Josh:
The Wisconsin Brewing Company is a very impressive facility. It is a newer state-of-the-art brewery with a nice public bar area and a beautiful outdoor patio overlooking grassy hills and ponds. They recently installed a stage on the patio and have live music from time to time, but it's not a typical place for Cherry Pie to be playing. Enter Dickinson Manufacturing Solutions, a successful machine shop in Madison run by Keith and Debbie Dickinson. They are big Cherry Pie fans and thought it would be a great idea to hire us to play for their company's 10th anniversary party. We agreed and they put this gig together for that purpose. They put out a nice spread of food (Mmmmmm) and all their employees were in attendance wearing cute T-shirts. The show was also open to the public so we had a nice gathering of familiar faces in the crowd for this unusual daytime event. The 3:00 pm start time on an uncovered stage meant for some hot sun shining down on us in a way we are not used to (we musicians tend to be vampires). During set-up we worried about what possible impact excessive heat might have on the show. Yeah, it was pretty warm but turned out to be not as bad as we feared. A mild breeze and slowly falling temperatures made for a more-or-less pleasant musical experience for us and those watching. One of the familiar faces at the show belonged to my good friend Shelley Faith who is also a bandmate of Charles' in Angels and Outlaws. We invited her to sing a song with us and she picked "Girls Girls Girls" by Motley Crue. Yeah, that was pretty sexy. We had a great time and would like to thank Keith and Debbie for their wonderful hospitality as well as the nice staff at the Wisconsin Brewery. This was our third gig of the weekend and you all made it a joy.    -Josh
