Power to the People! |
A Word from Josh: Summer may finally be coming to an end, but not without one final flash of glory in the Madison area. Overall, this was a spectacular night to go out and enjoy some live music. Our friends Lube played up the road at "Wauktoberfest" starting at 4:00 pm. Mae Fest opener The Mighty Short Bus played a spectacular set starting at 6:00 pm. We rocked Mae Fest from 9:00 pm to midnight, after which people were still able to catch our friends Naughty Chair rocking 'til bar time down the beltline at the Badger Bowl. There was lots of fun to be had everywhere and, at the end of September, the weather could not have been more perfect. Mae Fest takes place outside the Missouri Tavern on Highway 12 between Middleton and Waunakee and gets its name from Mae Mefford, a popular local resident who owned and operated the Missouri Tavern from 1940 until her death seven years ago at the age of 101. Current owner Travis Hasse has been putting on Mae Fest every September ever since. Travis is also the entrepreneur behind Original Pie Liqueurs, available in Apple Pie, Cow Pie and (of course) Cherry Pie. We're thrilled that he asked us to participate in this year's event. Over a thousand people attended and partook in food, drink, Badger football, radio & charity promotions and, of course, a lot of live music. The night was electric from start to finish. We got an unexpected treat towards the end of our show when former Pie bassist Shane Loy dropped by and played a couple tunes with us. Overall, a wonderful night and a perfect way to say goodbye to a great Summer. --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Travis: "Thank you for playing at the Missouri Tavern's Mae Fest this year. You guys put on a great show and everyone had a blast. Thanks again and look forward to seeing you soon!" Bittersweeteus: "It's something how we think we can have it all but we can't. Just like the moon, it seems so close yet so far, but as for CherryPie, their music is close enough for us to feel the full essence of it. The vibes and the riffs of each song is strong and exact. And CherryPie knows how to use their instruments to stress each note so together the songs sound better than some of the original artists. And John, with his debonair ways and clearly the true rocking man he is, brought that era of those 80's classic rock alive so we can travel back to that time when life was more carefree and not so hectic. This was a fantastic night! From the beautiful temps, the fun company I had throughout the evening, and the unity of the band with the fans, made the evening perfect." |
