A Word from Josh: It's hard to know what to expect when somebody hires you for their birthday party, but knowing that our friends Road Trip had played this same event the last couple of years, we had to figure it would be pretty cool. Well, pretty cool doesn't even begin to describe the ass-kicking good time we had at this gig. Held in a quaint banquet hall, this event was organized by Scott Van Pay as a birthday party for himself and his twin sister Shelley. It turns out they have a really big family and a lot of friends who love 80s Rock as much as they do. The party was open to the public so we saw plenty of familiar faces in the packed house, many of whom had travelled from all over to bid a fond farewell to Shane who will be leaving the band at the end of the year. This show had everything an 80s Rock show should have; plenty of booze and loud music with a killer light show on a high stage lined with beautiful wanton groupies clawing at us all night. It was definitely one of those nights when I'm really glad I took those guitar lessons 30 years ago. Big Thanks go out to Scott and his crew for letting us be a part of their righteous party. We'd love to do it again, and with the inevitable forward march of time, we figure that Scott and Shelly are bound to have another birthday in a year or so ;-) --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Bittersweeteus: "As you enter this old VFW building that has been transformed into a tavern and is located on the outskirts of Oshkosh, you come upon a small bar. As you proceed into a back room, you'll find the sights and sounds of CherryPie. CherryPie's performance was vibrant in sound and heightened in unequivocal professionalism. And John, with his outstanding charm and fun-loving wit, makes everyone feel part of this hard rocking stoked band and keeps that rock'n'roll crazy train barreling down the tracks fast and hard. This was a great show that represented the true meaning of, "Rock, Rock, til you Drop"! I want to wish everyone out there a Very Merry Christmas and may you get that special gift you've always wanted wrapped especially for you under the Christmas tree. Plus, let's not forget what Christmas is all about and also not to forget the less fortunate and the service men and women who fight for our freedom each and every day." Wendy: "great show I love seeing you guys and it was the last time I will see Shane good luck!" Carla: "Great show!" Kyrsten: "you guys definitely killed it at the party:) my legs hurt from dancing!!" Timbuktu: "You guys were awesome! Come back anytime. We love you" Scott Van Pay: "Holy Crap ! that was a great show. I would not have expected anything less. Thank You again for making our birthday kick ass." Shelley: "My twin brother Scotty plans this birthday party every year and all I have to do is show up:) Thank you for keeping the 80's music alive.Thank you for putting up with me, I don't get out much. Thanks for playing OBTS, Hey who else can say "Jack Russell" showed up at their birthday party. See you next year! The party gets bigger every year." Renee: "I was privileged enough to work the back bar that night. Even though I am and will always be a "punker" at heart....I have to admit that you guys rocked. We loved having you and hope to see you again." |
