A Word from Josh:
After last Friday's spectacular show on this same stage, tonight might have seemed a bit anti-climactic, but that's only because we're so spoiled (this was the first time we played at the State Fair on a weeknight since 2006). Still, a lot of Monday night party people found their way to the Bud Pavilion expecting a heaping helping of The Pie and we were determined to deliver. The first few songs were marred by technical problems as well as a few brain freezes (I'm sorry for messing up the organ intro on "Lay Your Hands on Me"). We fought through these issues and I think we really started to hit our stride by mid-way through the first set. As night descended on the Fair we really loosened up and let it all hang out with a fun crowd of (presumeably unemployed) die-hards. It's all part of the State Fair experience. In addition to our two shows here, I also attended yesterday (Sunday) and most likely again tomorrow. It's a feast for the senses and I really enjoy meeting people and seeing a lot of bands. It's great to see so many friends in action such as Oil Can Harry, Metal Men, Bobby Friss, The Now, 76 Juliet, Dirty Boogie, Bad Medicine and Pinstripe. Of course it's also a treat to discover bands heretofore unfamiliar to me such as The Cheap Shots, Alex Wilson, Tony Rocker and Jon Stone. No matter which night of the week, the State Fair has a great time in store for anybody.     --Josh
