A Word from Josh: New Glarus is one of those towns that I've driven past many times over the years but never stopped at. So this year when the New Glarus Fire Department asked us to play at their one day festival is made for an excellent opportunity to better-know this charming community. A large part of this town's identity is rooted in Swiss culture which is evident in the charming architecture everywhere you look. When I arrived, the festival was in full swing with many people eating grilled steaks and corn in the sunlight as the Green Field Brothers band played in a tent just outside of the firehouse. Our stage was set up inside the firehouse. It was a nice stage but we worried about the acoustics as well as the temperature inside this area that normally housed the town's fire trucks. In fact, right up to showtime we wondered if our brand of larger-than-life 80s Rock would translate to this setting. But, as is usually the case, such concerns proved to be unfounded. We launched into our first set and the firehouse quickly filled up. The acoustics and temperature were fine and within the first few songs we had ourselves a good old fashioned barn-burner on our hands. John grew up in this part of the state and had many family members in attendance including his mother who was a big hit when he brought her on stage. He also charmed much of crowd by making local references that left the rest of us in the dark. The end result was a wonderful "feel-good" evening of music, fun, family and friends (old and new). We hope that vibe carries over this Friday when we return to area to play the Belleville Community Picnic. 'Til then... "Haben Sie eine gute Woche!" --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Trish: "Awesome show!" Matthew: "Great show" Bethany: "GREAT SHOW!!! had a blast :)" cindy from chicago: "Well boys it was probably the best show you have ever done! I didn't know how much I've missed you guys! You really rocked and sweated, don't know which you did more! Love you guys and I will not wait 5 months to see you again!" Bittersweeteus: "Now this was different, a firehouse. Quite unusual from where CherryPie usually performs, but it did have plenty of room to move around and have fun partying with the PIE! I have to say, their performance was off the wall, crazy, and loud. And John, who is gorgeous man and looks great in anything he wears and has the best charisma and smile, had fun entertaining us all. Despite being just a tad warm inside the firehouse, I had an awesome time. Plus, I also have to say, I was way beyond and truly impressed with certain things before and during the show!! You CP guys are truly the rulers of the night time world!!" Long time fans: "Loved the show! It was a little on the warm side-but what a performance from John! Was a fun time-see you guys again real soon." Amanda: "Excellent show as always! Thanks for another great night! Can never get enough pie! You all are EXTREMELY talented but I have to say I love to watch Frankie the most not only for his talent ;) awesome show guys!" (Anonymous): "What a great show! The band really rocked! You guys just keep getting better and better as time goes by. Keep on Rockin!" Debbie & Gary: "We had a great time at state fair, did not make it to the other show, But really love all the clips with John and his mom." |
