A Word from Josh: What happens when you go north of Fond du Lac? You get wet, because Fond du Lac is on the southern shore of Lake Winnebago. But if you manage to stay dry and go northwest of Fond du Lac you find North Fond du Lac, a small village that couldn't (or wouldn't) come up with a more creative (or geographically accurate) name for itself. They did, however, have the wherewithal to hire Cherry Pie for their annual festival and we are very glad they did. Admittedly, the place didn't look very promising when we first arrived, but when darkness came the rockers came out from hiding and kicked our butts (in a good way), making for a memorable show. Missing out on the fun was our bass player Shane who was unable to attend. Bass playing duties for the evening were placed in the capable hands of our good friend Dann Walters of the band Bellevue Suite. He played with us a couple times last Summer and did another great job helping us out tonight. It is much appreciated. Of course, another thing that we had to account for in Shane's absence was the "Slice of the Pie" video diary which he normally creates every week. So I gave it a try (see video above). Hopefully you can tell that I had a lot of fun with it, but it was definitely a learning experience in a lot of ways. I think the most notable thing I learned was that I am a horrible actor. Yeah, it's looking like music was the better career path for me. Fortunately Shane will be back with us next week when we play at the Fireman's Picnic in Theresa, a town that just as well might have been named South Fond du Lac. We'll be changing up the set list and hoping to see a lot of the same people that treated us so well tonight. --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Jason: "My frist time seeing Cherry Pie. You guys rock would be glad to see you guys again but maybe next time i will have a beer or so i had to play it safe drank soda because had to drive. You guys rock." Jeanne: "Awesome fun times like always!" Becky: "You guys ROCKED! Thanks for coming to our festival!" Julie: "I had a great time! U guys F#*%>ng rocked!!!!!!" Dann Walters: "Thanks again guys, love jamming with you. And thank you to all the Cherry Pie fans for all the love! Back at you :) Happy Fathers Day. Remember "When your hanging with the Pie, Everything's Cherry"" Bittersweeteus: "What a 90 degree difference from last weekend. The crowd wasn't as stoked, but they were pretty well involved. And as for the performance of the PIE, the first set was good but after a little tweaking, the second set was off the top rocking hard. And John, who has the best form when he stands in the spotlight, had little room to move on stage, but still managed to give us nothing but a great time. The crazy train of rock'n'roll wasn't barreling down the tracks in high speed tonight, but it sure kept going steadily with what it was fueled with." chubbman: "Nicely done! Been waitin a long time for dont treat me bad. I beg for a firehouse encore in Thersea." |
