A Word from Josh: Promoting a 10th Anniversary Tour can really make a band feel old. But playing a show like this one has the opposite effect. We came into BuBs with a mindset to honor our past while turning a conveniently blind eye to our uncertain future. By the end of the night we had found an optimistic enthusiasm about our next 10 years. That might sound a bit naive but such was the magic of this night. This sense of rejuvenation began with a batch of new material. We debuted five songs an brought four others out of retirement. We somehow managed to play the new stuff pretty well and it went over great with the huge crowd... giving us that "oh-so-fresh" feeling. And it didn't matter when we train-wrecked on a couple of songs that we've been playing forever, the crowd remained insanely supportive throughout. At one point the bar delivered a bottle of Champaign to the stage to help us celebrate our Anniversary. John ceremoniously popped the cork (after wrestling with it for a while) to the delight of countless onlookers. Coincidentally, John's own birthday arrived at midnight. He received many loving birthday wishes from both on-stage and off-, some of them planned-ahead and others remarkably spontaneous. The overall vibe of the evening was spectacular from beginning to end. It was definitely a night that reminded us that age is just a number and the true Fountain of Youth lies within 80s Rock among friends. --Josh PS: According to our records, this was Cherry Pie's 499th show. That means that our show next Saturday at Kelly's II will be the big 5-0-0! We'll be loading up on our calcium supplements so that we can be sure to bring it like it ought to be brought for such a momentous occasion. So, who wants to be a part of history? 'See you next week!
