A Word from Josh:
Firehouse and Cherry Pie on the same bill is a pretty cool thing if you ask me, not that you did. Opening up for anybody typically causes a lot of technical headaches for us. But don't let anybody tell you that we don't learn from the past. Tonight we were able to avoid some of the pitfalls of being an opener, thanks largely to our soundman Mark who brought in a lot of his own sound equipment including a mixing board and microphones. From all accounts, this enabled us to sound pretty good given the circumstances. Another issue with being an opener is space on the stage. Yes, we were working in cramped quarters because of all the Firehouse equipment set up behind us. But the real issue was the fact that having our drums placed so far forward meant that we were pretty isolated from each other on the stage which is a weird feeling. John was on his own little island out front, I rocked out in my own little cove on stage left and Dave & Shane shared their own little love nest on stage right. Unfortunately this show didn't draw a particularly large crowd. On the bright side the unexpected space made it a lot easier for us to move our gear off of the stage quickly at the end of the set. Once our work for the night was finished we were able to relax and enjoy the Firehouse show while mingling with friends, a rare treat indeed. Now, when we open for nationals people often ask us if we get to hang out with the headliners backstage. Usually the answer is No. But tonight was the exception. The guys in Firehouse and their crew were amazingly gracious and hospitable and I ended up chatting much of the night away with Bill, Allen and their soundman Tony. We talked music, sports, family and I even pulled out my acoustic guitar for a bit of a sing along. 'Great bunch of guys. We're looking forward to Friday the 13th (eek) of November when we'll be back at Scatz putting on our normal full show. We hope to see a lot of Firehouse fans there.     --Josh

VOICES FROM THE CROWD:
Were you at this show?
Would you like to comment on it?

Rockin Reed:
"The Pie brought there A game and Firehouse never disappoints. The lack of crowd really is mind boggling. Ok its a Thursday but come on people show your support for rock and get to the show. No wonder 70's and 80's national acts never play around here. Great show but very disappointed in so called fans of rock and metal."

Dirk:
"People missed the boat on this one. Great show and with energy. This performance blows away the "lame Bean" and "Smoky Bowl" past performances. Scatz is a great venue to see shows. Where were the so called fans of metal? Finally a venue in Dane County that books "rock music" and no support."

Tracyz:
"SOOOOO HOT!!!! I Love You Shane :)"

Mark:
"Good to see the Pie was back to their old form...renewed energy. I've been disappointed by several of the recent Madison-area shows...and it seemed some of the guys were going through the motions. Keep up the energy that your fans want!"

Misty:
"I wasn't able to make it out to the show, but heard through the grape vine that you guys OUT-PLAYED FIREHOUSE... I would have loved to have seen that!"

Frankie Trash:
"Just a quick shout out to Ed, Gary, and Debbie for the help. Thanks!"

Ron:
"Where were the so called fans of "Metal"? Looks like roadtrips from now on for any hard rock national acts. Firehouse and PIE rocked!!!!"
