A Word from Josh:
Are you kidding me?... Chocolate-covered bacon!? How disgusting, how ridiculous, how delicious!! And so another high-fat hedonistic delight joins the likes of cheese curds, cream puffs and funnel cakes as traditional Midwestern Fair fare. And such was the environment when a strong crowd, aglow with cholesterol, joined us at the eminent Budweiser Pavilion for our first show at the 2009 Wisconsin State Fair. Heavy rains early in the day combined with subsequent high temperatures to create a very hot and muggy evening. We went through a ridiculous amount of water to stay hydrated during the first set as empty bottles piled up on the sides of the stage. The show was fun thanks to the typical enthusiasm of this State Fair crowd. This is a great stage for putting on our type of show and we left gallons of sweat on it in our attempt to entertain. A new element of our show making its debut tonight was my rotating keyboard stand, a true mechanical marvel when you think about it. Our buddy and part-time crew member Paul had been tinkering with the idea based on my suggestions for several weeks. The final result turned out better than we had hoped for. The crucial ingredient turned out to be part of the axel/brake assembly off of a Dodge Intrepid. Very nice work Paul! You know, this is another example of the kind of innovative thinking that gave us chocolate-covered bacon.     --Josh

VOICES FROM THE CROWD:
Were you at this show?
Would you like to comment on it?

Jennie:
"You may have seen me bouncing thru the crowd every now and then but boy, was it hot! Of course you guys are always hot...but could only stand in a few songs at a time. I was rockin' back on the grass in the meantime. Lovin' Josh's spinning keyboard stand!"

Chris from sc:
"You guys were HOT!!! The show was awesome and you rocked the house. I never regret coming such a long way to see you, I wish I could do it more often. Shane, thanks for taking the time to talk with my husband and I. I just have to say how adorable you are and you have a smile to die for! All of you guys are just so nice! The new keyboard stand was very cool. Keep on rockin and hopefully I'll be back soon."

Mari:
"The weather was hot but the music and the band were hotter. Favorite songs of the night, Rock You Like a Hurricane, Shakin and Skid Row. Hope to see you soon."

Bittersweeteus:
"Heat, sweat, beer flowing, rowdy fans, and an ass-kicking 80's coverband called CherryPie, now that's the ingredients you need for one thunderous hard-rocking night. CherryPie's performance was impeccable and if you were sitting in an lounge chair, the sound they produce would throw you back in it. And John, who put his own ingredients of charisma, domineering attitude, and brawn, into the evening, controlled the crowd and gave a performance that was intense and strong. Even though the weather was beyond being hot, I forgot all about it watching, listening, and dancing to the sounds of CherryPie. You guys truly are the Kings of the night time world and definitely earned the right to be in the "Book of Heavy Metal"!!"

Paul:
"Loved making the new keyboard stand, Thanks for all the nice comps. From everyone, looking forward to making the next one. Watch for the new mic stands coming to a Cherry Pie show near you. :)"

Howard:
"Had a great time seeing everyone, although it had been a long day, with a 450 mile drive and a bar b que in the afternoon before we headed up from Chicago. It was a bit toasty...enough so that I was actually ENJOYING Bud Light/Lime! Had to go home and have a couple Molson's to get that taste out of my head! Like the Keyboard turntable! What's next? The drums? See everyone soon, I hope!"
