A Word from Josh:
This week we uncharacteristically took some time off from our usual schedule of family, day jobs and snorting cocaine of the backsides of hookers in our hot tubs to do some rehearsing. The result was the debut of eight songs in tonight's show plus the return of an old favorite. It's an exciting challenge to break in so much new material at once and I think we were up to the challenge. That is to say, we didn't f*** them up too much. Indeed, they were all well-received by the crowd, many of whom I'm sure were glad to hear something different for a change. But we were certainly not the only reason people came out to the Coach House Grill tonight. This was a benefit show for the Bartolotta family, two members of which were badly burned in an accident at their fireworks factory last year. It just so happens that the most severely injured person was none other than Nick Bartolotta who was the drummer for Cherry Pie from 1999 to 2003. That's why we considered it a very special opportunity for us to play this show. Activities started early with a show by the Screaming Cucumbers on another stage near the tent in the parking lot where we played later. During our break the Barolottas treated everybody to a great fireworks show from across one of the baseball fields. News crews from at least three local TV stations covered the event. It was great hanging out with Nick before and after our show, but during the show he kept his distance from the stage, probably because he didn't want us to drag him up to play some drums or otherwise embarrass him the way we do. Still, overall it was the most quality time we spent with him in quite a long while. His recovery from the accident is a slow, difficult one including multiple surgeries on his face and hands. Despite his hardship it is obvious that he is still the same lovable goofball that he's always been. He recently started playing drums again and has formed a new band called Brass Knuckle Symphony. They will be playing a show next Saturday at Shortyz in Jefferson.     --Josh

VOICES FROM THE CROWD:
Were you at this show?
Would you like to comment on it?

Fan:
"This was a great night. Have fun w/the Pie while for a great cause. Glad the Bartelotta boys are doing well."

Bittersweeteus:
"It was great to hear some songs that brought back fond memories of the not so distant past of a different time and place. And the way CherryPie performed them made them sound great. And John, who has the most appealing charisma and alluring physique, put his own sensual feeling into them, which made me wish I could relive those moments again. The band did a great job helping out with a benefit for a former band member. There were awesome new songs added to the song list and as for the memories, they are from the past and now it's time to make new ones!!"

Ms. Rockstar:
"my sister is now a groupie for the Pie!! Thanks for a great time on Saturday....and the Packers won!! Packers and Pie :) "
