A Word from Josh: I guess it would be fair to say that this show was pretty eventful. First of all, we were glad to be back in this quality room again after more than two years. Kenosha is near the border between Wisconsin and Illinois so the show drew many of our friends from both states. Secondly, it was St Patrick's Day and I think we all know how crazy things can be whenever St Patrick's lands on a Saturday. Thirdly, this was also my birthday. And not just any birthday. It was my 40th, so I was eagerly trying to make a big deal out of that. I even suggested that I might get drunk, which captured the imagination of a lot of my friends who know me as the consummate teetotaler. Indeed, I entered the night ready and willing to drink whatever was handed to me. I downed two shots during the first set and received two more drinks during the break. So far, so good. But then they just stopped coming, I don't know why, so I ended up finishing the show anti-climactically upright. But I suppose that was good so that I could enjoy all the other birthday goodies that came my way. We're talking cakes, pies, cookies, plus some other less-edible gifts as well as over a dozen birthday cards which I decoratively displayed on top of my guitar amp. I was certainly feeling the love. Which reminds me, there was one other little thing that happened during the show that I thought I should maybe mention. During the first set we invited our good friend and Kenosha resident Jen to come up on the stage to help showcase our T-shirts. Little did she know that we were setting her up for a big surprise. Her boyfriend Kevin, who she had met at a Cherry Pie show a couple of years ago, snuck up behind her with a big ol' diamond ring and a wedding proposal in front of hundreds of people. It was a pretty exciting moment. Jen's parents were watching from the balcony as she nodded in the affirmative, at which point we started playing "Love of a Lifetime" for the happy couple (we had a different song ready to go for if she had said "No"). What a night! A whole lot of happy people with multiple reasons to party rocking out with the PIE. And the Lord looked down and saw that it was good. --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Vernon Voss (Carry Nation): "You guy's rocked me and all are friend's had a blast we had so much fun we had to get a cab home lol, see ya around." Tim Graham: "Great show gentlemen. Pleasure to work with you and the sound/lighting crew. And for grown men you kids sure make a mess" Josh: "And it happens once again. Cherry Pie rocks another kick ass show. Frankie next time you gotta bounce the stick off th drum and catch it! That would be awesome." Laura: "Hey guys, Our road trip was well worth the time and miles.......Unbelievable show. We had the best time......Thanks and see you soon for some more pie" Cherie: "Thanks guys for rockin' as great as I knew you would. You really made my bachelorette party all that I wanted it to be. And jammin' with John at the end was the best. All the girls are jealous! So, when I'm married, I'll have the daydream of you guys "pourin some sugar on me" if things ever get dull!" Juners: "I couldn't wait for the night to get started. Great road trip with dear friends and to have you guys playing for us. Could not have asked for a better way to enjoy my st patrick's day" Jen: "Hey guys, I just wanted to say Thanks AGAIN for making my parents feel welcome (they think you ROCKED), for being such a huge part of the proposal, and being such awesome friends!! You have truly made me a "Fan of a Lifetime"....XOXO" Michelle: "Great show!! We had a blast! I will definitely be seeing Cherry Pie again!" Melisa: "I loved seeing you guys on this stage. Great job! Happy 4-0!" Bittersweeteus: "It's something when you haven't been to a venue for a long time that it takes awhile for the scenery to sink in and to get yourself reacquainted with it. The place was full of activity, whether the staff was setting up or the patrons were coming in to see the show. This quickly changed by turning the patrons full attention onto this awesome band, CherryPie. They played with such professionalism that they never seem to fail to out do themselves in their performance. And John, who has such virile attributes and a relentless provocative charisma, gave a performance that could be interpreted as, Action Talks! The show was a great one and another fantastic song, All I Want, was added to the song list. I must admit, I didn't totally recognize this song when they did it a few times during some sound checks, but it finally hit me when John sang it this night." Connie: "I have to admit I was a Cherrypie virgin. Our girls night out up north was a blast thanks to the energy you guys gave out! We love our new shirts too. We'll be back for another slice!" |
