A Word from Josh: This was our second consecutive New Year's Eve show at Rooters and third overall. I guess you could say that it has become a bit of a tradition, and a pretty darn good one at that. In fact, I think they were still cleaning confetti and styrofoam out of the ductwork from last year's party when it came time to do it again. We were a bit more reserved with the paper products this time around, but it was still quite messy. It's all part of the fun. The merriment got off to an early start as the first to arrive enjoyed watching the Packers beat the Bears. Our show began during Brett Favre's emotional post-game interview instantly transforming Rooters from a sports bar into a hot rock club. Indeed, things warmed up very quickly as the 80s rock started to flow. Or perhaps it was Frankie's rather unorthodox outfit which seemed reminiscent of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. As the final seconds of 2006 were counted down we played a heavy metal version of the "Pachelbel Canon in D." As the clock struck midnite we played a brief rendition of "Auld Lang Syne" before launching into frenzied performance of "Nothing But a Good Time." Indeed it was a good time as a hearty crowd of rabble rousers welcomed the new year with style, grace and mayhem. Well,... mostly mayhem. During the break everyone was treated to a buffet across the hall. We returned for out second set and were pleased to see most of the crowd still rockin' with us. "We'll keep playing as long as you keep partying with us," John promised the enthusiastic audience. I interjected a brief bit of sentiment when I devoted my performance of "Goodbye" to people in our lives who passed on in 2006. But that didn't quell the electricity in the air that stayed right up to the end of our show. At the end of the day, we felt pretty good about our show and really had a great time. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? leah: "had a blast at the show.had a great time." Misty: "I'll make this short and sweet, unlike our pilgrimage to get to Rooters! : ) Thank you for a great party... as always! Totally worth the sleep deprivation. Happy New Year's guys!" Brenda: "That was a blast as always, thanks you guy's!" Fan: "Just a great show !. My 2nd year at Rooters for New Years w/the Pie. Loved it ! Love the mess they make. Thanks for the good times, Lee" The "other Tammy: "Rooters in Waukesha.. - my home town... ( New Years Eve ).. As always one of the most spectacular places to see my FAVORITE band - in a very happy atmosphere for the evening. What a amazing crowd.. everyone looked "beautiful" and plenty of festive party favors to be had by all...no reason to have been empty handed @ Midnight. I did not quite make it for the second set... to much New Years Cheer for me.. but did make it till Midnight, that is the important part.. as always.. you make guys me smile :) Happy New Year to you and families!! See you in Madison.. Take care guys.. The " other " Tammy" Bittersweeteus: "Admidst the New Year's decorations and over-eagar fans, are the rockin' kings of the night time world, CherryPie. They were like gods of thunder, with the way they played their instruments, it made the place rumble. Then there's John, with his powerful and fixed energy, used his predominant demeanor, which was proudly displayed through his Slayer shirt, kept the fans going until almost 3 a.m. The end of the year went out great with the Packers kicking the Bears ass, and as for the new year, it's time to take that same drive as the Packers did, to discard the things that hinder us from our dreams, and to take charge of our lives to make them the best that they can be!!" Debbie & Gary: "Thank you guys for asking about my son from the last show. It shows that you really care. We had another rocking new years eve with ya'll. I don't know which was better this year or last year. Well it really doesn't matter, both show were awsome. Everyone looked so wonderful. Hope you guys have a wonderful new year to come with many great shows. Looking forward to partying and rocking out with you in 2007. Debbie & Gary" Zep: "As always, a great show. Chet is the best guitar player ever. I can't help but to say that you guys need to retire Turn Me Loose- the crowd goes pretty flat with that one every time" |
