A Word from Josh: We were very pleased to book three consecutive nights at the State Fair this year. However, it created a conflict in Rico's schedule. As a result, we asked our good friend Dave Schoepke of the WAMI-Award-winning band Boxkar to fill in tonight. Unlike his previous Cherry Pie fill-in appearance (2/24/06 at the Dry Bean Saloon), this time he had several weeks to prepare. His hard work resulted in a pretty tight show and we appreciate it a lot. Of course, many regular fans were surprised to see Dave behind the kit instead of Rico including Rico's own mother. She had come out to cheer on her son, having apparently missed the memo. In all, the evening was a pretty decent Wednesday night at the Fair with a pretty good crowd rocking out with us. The weather was pretty good. Yes, it was a bit hot early on, but not nearly as hot as last week when temperatures hung in the 90s for several days. I'm really glad that we didn't have to play in those conditions. Toward the end of the night, things cooled off even more with some rain during our last few songs. The Budweiser Pavilion is a great place to be to keep dry and, overall, it was a fun night. Of course, this whetted our appetite for the next two nights, climaxing with our performance here on Friday night. That should be pretty damn awesome. --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Michael: "Excellent set. You've never sounded better." |
