A Word from Josh: Rooters has decided to depart from previous practice and is now having live bands throughout most of the summer. Of course, this time of year most people prefer to stay outside rather than come into a bar. So, in order to attract a crowd, we decided to bring the great outdoors into Rooters, in a manner of speaking. Thus was born the idea of the "Big Hair Beach Party". Well, there was no bodies of water and no sand to be found anywhere inside Rooters, but we and many in the crowd played up the theme with our outfits. With all the swimwear, Hawaiian shirts and inflatable nick-knacks on stage and in the crowd, it wasn't hard to imagine the warm sun shining down on the cool rolling waves of a pristine beach. OK, maybe that's pushing it. But it was a lot of fun and quite a few people came out to share the fun with us. As you might imagine, there was quite a bit to see in the way of sexy bathing suits and such. Two women even came up changed into more tropical tops right on stage! John and Shane held up towels creating an impromptu changing room as the ladies slipped out of their shirts and into a coconut bra and a Hawaiian flower bra. Prizes were given out in various ways, including rewards for the best outfits. We in the band did our part as well, deviating from our normal stage outfits (a very rare occurence) to fit the theme. I must say that it was very interesting trying to perform barefoot throughout the night. I use a lot of different pedals and it was a challenge to get my klutzy toes to operate them correctly. As silly as it was, I think the Beach Party was a great way to elevate what otherwise could have been a rather mundane indoor summer show into something memorable and fun. Thank you to everybody who took part. We'll see many of you tomorrow just up the road at Western Days for some more traditional summer excitement. --Josh Click Here for the photo gallery of this event on the Brew's website Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Jeff: "This was my first Cherry Pie show I went to see and I had fun. It was more wild than I thought it would be. Hope to go with my friends again soon, although I'm going to skip Saturday's show so I can get my hearing completely back. ^_^ " Wes and Scotty: "Once again Cherry Pie rocked, we can't wait to see them at Riponfest in a few weeks. My mullet wig almost won the beach outfit contest, but sadly lost to a scuba dude wearing a raft. Special thanks to Chet and Johnny for playing Once Bitten, Twice Shy for the "Berlin Boys", see ya in Ripon, Rock ON" Jewelz: "Bikini's, Bikini's, Bikini's...if you missed this show, you missed lots of Bikini's!! Oh yah and the hippo who got lots of action! Great show guys and as always great friends to share in the evening with (My sexxy dance partner, Kev, Jen, Lori, Laura, Jas, Greg & Jeannie, Chris) - See ya all tmrw!" Jen: "Great show as usual guys!! Was nice to see all the beach wear, as strange as some of it was (especially the sexy hippo wearing, snorkel and mask guy, wink wink). Loved seeing everyone again (Jewelz, Jody, Jas, Greg & Jeannie)...as always, it was great rocking with you!! Looking forward to another show soon, until then, keep on rockin!!" |
