A Word from Josh: Wow, this was one of the most pleasant surprises ever. With Motley Crue playing at the old Mecca (sorry, I just can't call it the Cellular One Arena) we came into Kelly's convinced that we would have a pretty dead night. Instead, we had our best crowd ever in this club. Things were really cooking right from the start. The great crowd really helped get us clicking and I think we were able to give them our A-game. Personally, the great vibe helped me get through the night despite a back injury that I suffered during last night's show. You know, for a long time I've said that I'm getting too old for these shows on back-to-back nights. Originally, I meant it as a joke, but these days... not so much. Another reminder of my advancing age and impending mortality came in the form of friends remembering that my birthday is this week. In what has become a delightful tradition in recent years, I received gifts of Cadbury Eggs and baked goods. Thanks to everybody who generously contributed to my high-carb diet which, as you may know, is the secret behind my big hair. Another person celebrating his birthday tonight was Lonnie, one of our biggest fans for years. Before our first set ended people were already starting to trickle in from the Crue concert. By early in the second set, this big room was nearing capacity as we were having a pretty major concert event ourselves. Overall, a spectacular night. --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? LONNIE&CHRIST: "Wow! Me and the wife just want to thank everyone that made my 41st B-DAY awesome. We been to alot of CP shows and I had to keep looking up at the roof to see if it was still in tack you know its loud when you are wearing ear plugs and still wake up with ringing in your ear and thanks to JAS for the ear plugs and b-day drink and to GREG&JEANINE for my birthday report and it was so nice seeing alot of old and new familar people." Kip Swinger: "Is it wrong that I enjoyed the hugs I received from my two favorite CP regulars more than last night's show? I didn't think so. It was great to see all of your smiling faces again!" Laura: "I was a Cherry Pie "virgin" until last night's show at Kelly's II. YOU GUYS F'EN ROCK!!!!! So glad I decided to check you guys out. The drummer might remember who I was, dancing in the front row, with the turquoise shirt on or ......... Look forward to your Rooter's show the 26th!" Maurice: "As usual you guys rocked the house! Not only was the music hot, the women at this show were incredible. Keep it up guys, you rock!!" Jen: "What else I can say but, "UNBELIEVABLE"!! You guys managed to pack the house even though that "other band" was having a concert! What does that say about CP? Well other than the obvious, pure talent and non-stop energy, you have one hell of a following! Another rockin night at Kellys...keep up the good work guys!!" Jewelz: "Well what a night...1st Motely Crue, then a haul across town to catch CP. It was great to see some long lost faces such as Lonnie, Christ, Waukesha boy Mike and my biggest surprise of the evening The Kip Man!! As always a terrific show put on by the guys and great friends like My dancing bud Jody, Jas, Laura, Tim, Greg and his better half!) to share the evening with. We did however miss a few familar faces...Kat, Posion, and Vince Vetter :(" Bittersweeteus: "The CP guys took the place by storm with hard rockn' songs and spellbounding talents. It's a wonder the stage was large enough to contain all of it!! John, along with his attitude checks, was intriguing and very impressionable. This was a very memorable and remarkable night." Brian: "Came up from Chicago for this show ( you guys got us hooked @ your New Years Eve show in Chicago!) - everyone was great - the people were great! (I think I remember a little bit of turquoise shirt "dance" as well). Looking forward to having the show out by us in April - almost enough to drive up to take the bus back and forth, should be a blast!" Greg Godina: "This was an awesome show, even though that we were missing a few people like Kat. I was glad for 2 things-1) Lonnie had a good B-day and 2) the power did not go out like it did the last time that CP played there.!!" |
