Anything Goes |
A Word from Josh: We have long had friends from Racine, devoted fans who regularly drive up to Milwaukee and other places to see us play. However, we've never drawn a particularly good crowd when actually playing IN Racine. Well, that all changed tonight with a great showing at Optyx. The improved numbers may help ensure that we return to this fine city again sooner than later. The strong turn-out was due in part to many folks coming out from Kenosha and also making the trip from the Chicago area. "I can't tell you how many Illinois licenses I saw tonight," a bouncer told me after the show. I tell you, that kind of support feels really good. The show itself went pretty well, although I must admit to feeling quite sluggish myself. Old age I guess. I felt good and had a great time, but I just had trouble moving my feet like I usually do. I doesn't help that this stage is wrought with tripping hazards. Fortunately, we all escaped injury and the rest of the band more than made up for my lethargic performance. BTW, I found out that it's kinda hard to play keyboards when they are covered in confetti. During "Living on a Prayer" and "Jump" I could barely see the keys beneath all that paper. As usual, there were a few birthdays being celebrated, but none more disturbing than that of our stage manager Pat. John led the crowd in singing "Happy Birthday" during which Pat expressed his appreciation in the only way he knows how, by dropping his pants. That wasn't the only moment that caused trauma to members of the audience. At one point John decided to give away an official Cherry Pie licensed thong (not the kind you wear on your foot). As he held it up over his head, too young ladies charged forward in an effort to claim the prize, knocking over at least one innocent bystander in the process. 'Gotta love that enthusiasm. --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Laura: "After a long CP-less month, this show was welcome. In fact, it was awesome! I say that a lot, but I really mean it. The new songs were great. Once again Rico's mom stole the show. Rock on! See ya'll at Kelly's!" angela: "Hello there really enjoyed the show last night. It was so nice to see everyone again and I hope Pat had a happy birthday. Now I know where Rico gets his energy to play them drums... His Mom." Vince Vetter: "There is nothing else to do here but say thank you's. Bittersweeteus: "The place was slowly filling up with people that were ready to party. The CP guys were revved up and ready to tear the roof off. Once they started, they played with such savage amusement. John, who has the right demeanor, was able to keep everyone going as if they were being led into a psycho circus. This was one wild and crazy night!!" Donavan & Becky: "We have been fans for about two years and this is the first time I have logged on here. We just wanted to say we love you guys and we always have fun seeing you. You are great musicians and play great music. We were there at Optyx the other night and we had a great time! Keep it up and hope to see you guys again real soon!! p.s. John, thanks for liking my Iron Maiden shirt!! Up The Irons!!" |
