| A Word from Josh: This show marked the end of a very interesting week for us, full of new experiences. Monday we played our first-ever all-acoustic set at a Red Cross Benefit. Friday morning we sat in with the morning show at 97.3 FM The Brew. And tonight's show marked our first appearance in the Bradley Center for an athletic event. It was definitely a different kind of gig, with certain advantages and disadvantages compared to a normal Cherry Pie show. We were warned in advance of some of the possible pitfalls of playing this event. Sure enough, loading in our equipment was a Sisyphean task made even more difficult by the fact that we arrived just as the Marquette Warriors were finishing a basketball game at the venue. We brought our equipment in through a narrow door which was also being used by hundreds of other people on their way out including members of the Marquette band along with many of their instruments. The stage was couple hundred yards away from the load-in point. On the other hand, concerns over our decibel levels during the show turned out to not be an issue. Naturally our show was toned down quite a bit for the circumstances, which was a funny feeling, but I think we accomplished what we wanted exposing thousands of hockey fans to the Cherry Pie experience. Early on, things felt really weird as a large crowd assembled with a tone of cautious curiosity. "Now I know how the monkeys feel at the zoo," John told them. Things gradually loosened up as people watched from many diverse vantage points including from along the elaborate system of staircases that ascend into the higher levels of the majestic atrium toward the glass ceiling. There were very cool perks associated with the gig including some great food: After our first set we were invited to the buffet room which is provided for members of the media. What a sweet deal those guys have. This food was better than what you can get at the public concessions. Some of us emerged from that really stuffed. Fortunately, we were able to work of a lot of those calories because the dressing room was on the opposite end of the building from the stage. I'm a pretty big sports fan so I took the opportunity to watch some quality hockey during the second and third periods. Unfortunately, the Admirals lost to the Hamilton Bulldogs in a shootout after an overtime period ended in a 3-3 tie. So, the local fans were not in the best of moods as they came back out to the atrium where we were playing our post-game set. I think we were able to lift some spirits with our brand of 80s hair rock. Loading out afterward was a lot less hectic than loading in. It was a pretty cool experience overall and we are grateful to the Milwaukee Admirals and 97.3 FM The Brew for making it happen. --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it?
