A Word from Josh:
The advertisements called it "Shark City's Halloween Bash featuring ARRA and Cherry Pie", but it just as well could have been called "The Johnny Spandex Show". After all, he sang all night as the lead singer of both bands. For those of you who may not have been aware, John joined ARRA, a band that has been on top of the Chicago area cover band scene for many years, a little over a year ago and has been moonlighting ever since. This was the first time the two bands played a show together, but it will certainly not be the last. We will be teaming up with ARRA again on New Year's Eve and, after tonight, that is a show we are REALLY looking forward to. Of course, most of the crowd were there to see ARRA, but we had a few fans who crossed the state line for this show. Plus, there were many ARRA fans who had come up to see Cherry Pie in Wisconsin and they really seemed to love the combination. "Best of All Worlds" seemed to be the sentiment of many in the crowd. The bar was already quite full when we started our set and it went over great. The stage allowed us plenty of space and we were able to give Illinois a pretty good glimpse of what the Cherry Pie Experience is all about. We've played Illinois twice before. On December 29, 2000 our show in Mundelein was effectively neutered by a horrible snow storm. Two years later we had a pretty good show in Addison, but failed to take advantage of the momentum. We are determined to not let that happen again this time. ARRA guitarist Kevin predicted from the stage, "By this time next year Cherry Pie is going to be the top shit in Chicago." I have actually known the guys in ARRA a lot longer that I've known the guys in Cherry Pie. I first met them in 1993 when I was assigned by a production company to do lights for them at Gonzo's in Madison. I loved their mix of classic, pop and progressive rock, ranging from Journey to Bon Jovi to Kansas. I kept in touch with them over the years and attended many shows. They always treated me great and welcomed me to jam with them on stage many times. Tonight was no different as I joined them to play keyboards on "Carry On Wayward Son". John has also known these guys for a while. In fact, John and I first met in 1997 via our mutual friend Ron Platt who was the ARRA singer who John went on to replace last year (are you following all that?). So, overall, we had a great time and seemed to take a major step forward in a new market to boot.     --Josh

VOICES FROM THE CROWD:
Were you at this show?
Would you like to comment on it?

Kat and Pat:
"What more could you ask for? good times, great music, good food, great friends, yummy drinks, girls in skimpy Halloween costumes and Johnny singing non-stop for 5 hours!!!!! FUN FUN FUN!!!"

Lisa Marie:
"Hey Josh it was really cool meeting you :) You guys are really great and next time I'm up north in WI, I'll try and catch a show! Love to jam with you guys sometime. Keep rockin'!!!"

Bittersweeteus:
"What a fitting night for Halloween! Two great bands , the ghoulish and unique costumes, and not to add the, cool, brisk, night air. CherryPie kicked off the night with hard rockin songs and unrestrained energy. ARRA followed showing their diversified talents. John, lead singer for both bands, had talents of his own to exhibit. They included, but not limited to, his strong voice, red-hot moves, and endless stamina. Put all his talents together just proves that you can't keep a good thing down or caged. This surely was a eventful, fun, and very impressive night."

Marcia:
"I very much enjoyed both shows...I thought the members were very friendly (I met Shane who told me about the Cherry Pie site..thanx Shane) and i got a drumstick from John (oops I think I'm a Groupie now)..."
