A Word from Josh: Happy Mother's Day everybody! Rooters is a place that we are glad to play at frequently. Saturday was yet another wildly successful show for us in this room, made unique by the presence of a "dancer cage" placed in the middle of the dance floor as part of a promotion by Cutty Whisky. Three professional dancers Anne, Marina and Kylie, clad in tiny tight black leather outfits, spent much of the night gyrating under the strobe light in the cage when they weren't circulating through the crowd promoting their product. When you think about it, what better band is there to be involved with such a low-brow sexist promotional stunt than Cherry Pie!?! Of course many others in the crowd, male and female, spent time carousing in the cage as well -- including John when he wasn't needed on stage. I think we saw a different side to him, his "inner-stripper" if you will. The whole cage thing was definitely a hit with most of the crowd, making us wonder if we should arrange to have something like that at future shows. Anyone interested in auditioning? Earlier in the day, we set up our equipment early so that we could have a short rehearsal before the doors opened. As a result, we were able to debut two songs. That went really well. We even opened the show with one of them, "Same Ol' Situation". I commented to John that if we were to start a show without the usual a cappella "Shot Through the Heart!!!" some people might think that they are not at a Cherry Pie show. But, hey, variety is the spice of life. Throughout the night, much of the chatter amongst our friends involved the upcoming Firehouse show coming to Rooters on May 21. We will be the opening act for that one. 'Should be a great time. --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Bittersweeteus: "This was a strange but wild night! It started out good, but then the girls for Black Label came out to do their thing and then it really got wild. The girls even managed to leave some of guys from the band speechless. The songs were rowdy and two new great ones were added to the sets. And even though John was side-tracked at times, he still gave a great show. I know I'll remember this night!! By the way, John, nice new outfit!!" Jewelz: "Well since I haven't seen you guys since late March, I was definitely in need of my CP fix! It was a terrific show, awesome new songs, cool new outfit (John), interesting hair style (Josh), and "Were not gonna take it" was lacking something (Dan) That song just doesn't seem to be the same anymore :( But what never seems to change is that I had a terrific time, accompanied by some great friends (Kitty Kat & Poison) and even some faces we have not see in a while (Kip)!! All that and we get to do it all over again next week – Well some of us may not want to do EVERYTHING exactly the same (Kitty Kat) ;-)" Kittykat: "Some of us had alittle too much fun!!! ;) never drink UV & Sprite, shots of "hot sex" on top of an empty stomach and cold pills with codeine! YOWZA!!!! WHAT A FATAL COMBO! And yes Josh i'd like to apply for that "cage dancer position" NOT!!!!!!!!! I personally think the cage thing was fun and the girls were hot and sexy but i do believe it took away from the whole CP experience and some band members who shall remain nameless;) seemed alittle too distracted with the limberness of the girls!!!! ;) It was so great to see alot of familiar faces, and rock the night away with some very fun friends!! See ya all next week!!!" Teri: "WOWIE! what A nite! I had A super time. Loved the two new songs! I think seeing that their is more ladies at the gig that we would like to see Cherry Pie guys in the cage doing A little dance. (Just think of the extra money you would make) Anyone want to apply? Made alot of new friends seeing CP for the first time (Amber) Great cage dancing! See you all at the Firehouse gig. XOXO" jerrilynn: "hi all.. was a great show..but i would like to see cherry pie in that cage..what a great way to earn some extra $$$ are you guys in?? :-) keep rockin" |
