A Word from Josh:
Well, you know, as they say... The more things stay the same, the more they change. Or something like that. On the surface, this show was a lot like many of our Badger Bowl shows over the last couple of years, and that's a very good thing indeed. But make no mistake, this was a night of great transition for us. The more observant of our friends noticed right away that the sound and light equipment on the stage was all different than in the past. After almost three years of working closely with Go Audio for our sound systems, we are embarking on a new path. This was the first of what looks to be many successful shows with our new sound company Sound Decision, headed by engineer Mark Hartzell. It's often hard to say goodbye and we'd like to give a big thanks to all the Go Audio folks -- Brian, Dan, Chris, Tom and Matt -- for their hard work over the years. We've had a lot of great times together and have helped each other to grow professionally. Sound Decision provides us with a package deal that includes a great light show, so that also means that we won't be working much anymore with Light God Extraordinaire Tracy Roudebush, who had been providing lighting for most of our shows over the last year, and who happens to be a good friend of mine for the last 18 years. A quiet man and a tireless worker with a great eye for stage lighting, Tracy will be missed. So, with this paradigm shift as the setting, we strode to deliver our traditional Cherry Pie experience. Personally, I was dealing with a couple other issues as well. In the spirit of trying new things, I decided to go without the headset microphone that I had been using for the last 4 years. That took a little getting used to, but it did feel liberating to get that thing off of my face. In addition (and here's where I start whining), I was dealing with a badly damaged fingernail on my right index finger. During the first few songs it actually got caught in my guitar strings as I played, creating all sorts of problems. During Dave's guitar solo for "Turn Me Loose" John brought me some scissors which I used to trim the nail but it continued to be a major irritant for the rest of the night as I'm sure it will be for the next few shows until it grows back out. As usual, the crowd at the Badger Bowl was great. The place was packed with friends and new faces, many of whom got really drunk and rocked our asses off. Yes, some things NEVER change.     --Josh

VOICES FROM THE CROWD:
Were you at this show?
Would you like to comment on it?

YouthGoneWild:
"Great show as usual!! It was definately worth the drive from Waukesha to Madison. Always a great show when Rush makes it into the mix and even better to have a drummer like Rico who can rock like Neal himself. Keep rockin guys and see you at the next show. Until then, live the life of sex, drugs (beer is a drug right..), and Rock n'Roll!!"

Kate:
"I was one of the new faces in the crowd Friday night April 16th at the Badger Bowl. I had heard that Cherry Pie was a great band--now I have heard for myself. We had a rockin' good time and look forward to the next time. Long live the 80"s--what real music is all about:)"

Teri:
"Well I made it to this gig by myself. New place, different people, no Go Audio. Just me and Cherry Pie oh yeah and Rolling Rocks. What more does A girl need. Getting wet on the ride home. Great show as always. Missed the regulars. Hope to make the Dry Bean gig too! Till than! xoxoxo"
