A Word from Josh: We have been aware of the Jefferson County Fair for many years. We knew it was kind of a big deal that features some big name musical headliners. As such, we are very pleased to be participating in it this year. True to form, the 2017 Jefferson County Fair boasts the Charlie Daniels Band and Brothers Osborne as featured artists for Friday and Saturday respectively. But today is Thursday, and there is absolutely no doubt what the top headliner on everybody's mind is tonight... TRACTOR PULLING! That's right, the huge crowd gathered in the main grandstand was evidence that most people in this community find it more entertaining to watch noisy trucks struggling to drag weighted sleds through mud than middle-aged men with long hair singing about teenage lust. That's not to say that we didn't draw a good crowd, we did. It started a bit slow but people gradually amassed in our beer tent to check out the music. And then, with less than an hour to go in our set, a huge influx of mostly younger people filled the dance floor. I suspect most of them came from another event that had let out elsewhere. Whatever, this crowd was a lot of fun and I think we gained quite a few new fans. Overall, it was a pretty cool way to spend a Thursday night. I have no idea if we will be back here next year, but I hope so. After all, those tractors are kinda cool. -Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? : "" |
