A Word from Josh: As I'm sure many of you recall, our experience at last year's Dan Jansen Family Festival was cut short by a nasty thunderstorm that appeared to be heading our way. Today there were no such obstacles to our good time and we were able to enjoy a full evening of music and fun. It was everything that last year should have been... and then some. Konkel Park was teeming with crowds and activity all day. As usual, the hours before our show were filled with the sounds of the Oldies but Goodies Spectacular Band playing on a stage on the opposite side of the beer tent from our stage. After we finished setting up I made my way over to the midway with the rides and games where I enjoyed some carnival food and took in the overall atmosphere. As I waddled back to the beer tent I was greeted by dozens of friends, fans and general well-wishers as they settled in for an evening of 80s Rock. I don't think they were disappointed. The show got off to a great start in front of a packed house despite my getting tangled in keyboard cables during the first song. Meh, it happens. The crowd fed our enthusiasm all night and we enjoyed every minute of it. Always innovating, we opened the second set with a new gimmick involving John "elevating" his game and bringing it to the people. As the show came to an end we were already looking forward to doing it again next year. --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? : "" |
