A Word from Josh:
We were tickled to arrive at the Roadhouse and find that the staff had set up a display congratulating Cherry Pie for winning a Shepherd Express "Best of Milwaukee" award earlier this week. The display included posters signed by the staff, red balloons with green ribbons and several cherry pies... yes, actual cherry pies with whipped cream and some vanilla ice cream on the side. I'll give you two guesses which one of us consumed the most pie and your first guess doesn't count. We appreciated the sentiment and the festive atmosphere lasted all night with an outstanding crowd. While it's always nice to win an award (we've won a few over the years), this particular award led to a lot of conversation because of it's category. We won in the category "Best Metal Band." Yep, metal band. What do you make of that? I mean; with lots of cover songs by Journey, Bon Jovi, REO Speedwagon, etc; do we really qualify as a "metal" band? That's a curious question and begs a comparison with Jethro Tull's "Best Metal Album" Grammy in 1989. Still, regardless of what you call what we do, it's very nice to know that somebody thinks we do it well.     -Josh
