A Word from Josh:
I have played at the Saloon on Calhoun many times, but that was all back in the days when the stage was a small platform tucked between the bar and the southeast corner of the room. A few months ago they did some major remodeling. In the process they expanded and put in a permanent stage on the north end of the building along with a pretty ambitious sound & light system. While the new stage is considerably larger than the old one, it's still not very big. But it IS big enough to invite bands like Cherry Pie to come play on it. Our movement was a bit restricted by the close quarters but the stage did look pretty cool and we rocked it pretty good. The big story of the night was the crowd. In recent years the Saloon on Calhoun has developed quite a good reputation for quality live music and, encouraged by the vibrant personalities of owners Dave and Jennine, has built quite a following of loyal fans. Combine that with the fact the bar is located smack dab in the geographical middle of "Pie Nation" and you've got a recipe for a great night. Indeed, the place was packed beyond capacity all night. While a great many long-time Cherry Pie were in attendance, it was particularly rewarding for me to see some Saloon on Calhoun regulars experience the band for the first time. The whole night was a smashing success and we look forward to returning to the Saloon on Calhoun again this Fall.    --Josh
