A Word from Josh:
We've had some good times at AJ's over the past couple of years, but tonight certainly had to be the best. It was the most well-attended of all our shows here and the large crowd was full of personality and flavor. All of this was at least partially the result of the 80s Theme and Costume Contest that had many decked out in outfits inspired by Madonna, Don Johnson and other 80s icons. The winner of that contest turned out to be our own good friend Taylor Thompson and why not? He dresses like that all the time so it comes perfectly natural to him. His prize was a bright red electric guitar that I played for most of the first set. Amongst all the frivolity and hi-jinx throughout the evening, the biggest cheerleader of it all had to be our own Johnny Spandex who was in a goofy mood all night. He was in-part inspired by the colorful Dot "Com" who was celebrating her 65th birthday with a great many family and friends. Late in the show a woman came up on stage and took John's mic and started to sing. Normally, this would be a big no-no, but she actually sounded pretty good so we let her continue (as opposed to the normal procedure of violently taking her to the ground and pummeling her about the neck and head, a job naturally reserved for Kevin). We later found out that her name is Tanya Balkunas and she sings with a band called The Clique. A big thanks go out to AJ and his great staff. We had a great time and look forward to returning to AJ's in the Fall.     -Josh
