Cherry Pie

"A Slice of the Pie" • Bent's Camp • Land O' Lakes, WI • Sept. 19, 2015

Posted by Cherry Pie

A Word from Josh:
Frankie, Kase and Charles came to the venue a day early along with Amanda and our crew guys Matt and Johanne. They rented a very nice cabin next to the campground and relaxed in the north woods. Dave, Kevin and I arrived the afternoon of the show and immediately wished we had come early also. This is a beautiful setting. I guess Bent's Camp is pretty typical campground for northern Wisconsin, except for way more cool because they hired Cherry Pie to play. The event was dubbed as an "I Love the 80s" party and most of the hundred or so in attendance were in 80s-themed costumes ranging from Boy George to Ozzy Osbourne. They even had a costume contest during the break. It felt a lot like Halloween. The show went smoothly and was well-received. A couple of guys in ZZ Top costumes joined us on stage for an impromptu performance of "Gimme All Your Lovin'." The crowd ate it up. The event organizers declared the show a huge success although it seemed strange to me that the number of people in the crowd was less than half of the number of miles we traveled to get here. Immediately following the show there was talk of having us come back next year. Now that we've seen the place we'll be sure to plan a big family weekend around it.     --Josh
