A Word from Josh: The vision for this show was huge. Teaming up Cherry Pie with Chasin' Mason on the main grandstand stage at the Waupaca County Fair could have been... should have been EPIC... but then came the rains - D'oh!! It was miserable and wet all day effectively dampening the entire festival. I walked around the grounds shortly before showtime and it was bleak; food and craft vendors, game and ride operators all sitting around waiting for the occasional hearty soul so come by and sample their wares. It was like a soggy ghost town. The entire grandstand area was well-covered so attending our show wasn't going to get you wet but you had to come to the Fair first and the weather was keeping people away in droves. That's the bad news. The good news is that the show, which featured a 90-minute set from Chasin' Mason followed by a 90-minute set from Cherry Pie, went very well. Both bands sounded great and the lights looked amazing. Big props to the crews from both bands for getting all the gear through the mud and putting together a wonderful spectacle. Although only a couple hundred people were on hand to witness it, you have to figure that those people are the real deal. They're the ones who braved the elements and came to the show despite the rain. They were here to party... and party they did. Our good friend Joey Gleesing from the band The Now provided most of the lead vocals tonight, filling in for John who is still recovering from major shoulder surgery. Joey did a great job and we were all impressed by the enthusiasm and loud voices of the undersized crowd. They not only demanded an encore, but they let us know in no uncertain terms that they wanted us to play all night. There is definitely a lot of sentiment in the air that we should try this again next year and just hope it doesn't rain again. --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Dennis: "Great show!!!" Alexis: "We had a blast. One of the best shows I have seen in a long time!! Hopefully I can see you guys play again soon." Dewey: "This was a great show!!!! Hope to see you back up here again." |
