A Word from Josh: Tonight's show was at a festival that's only about 10 miles from my house but I was not familiar with it. It takes place in the town of Thiensville which is a northern suburb of Milwaukee that maintains a small town vibe. The festival is everything a Midwestern town's festival should be with carnival rides, carnival games, carnival food, softball games, beer and live music. While we were setting up for our show on the north end of the beer tent Lukyn Skywyrd was playing their brand of exciting southern rock at the south end. Our show got off to a good start and more people came into the tent with every song. The second set went very well and the tent seemed very full. It wasn't until the show was over that I realized the weather may have played a role in that. A heavy rain had been falling for the last hour or so of our show. It didn't seem to impact our show but it definitely impacted the tear-down and load-out afterward. The tent was surrounded by areas of standing water and mud which made it impractical to bring our vehicles to the normal load-out spots. We had to systematically move all the stage gear, lighting equipment and PA system down a long path to where the vehicles were. Fortunately the rain and almost completely stopped at that point or the situation could have been even worse. As it was, we made the most of it and turned this brigade of rock into a bonding opportunity. Sometimes this business of rock n'roll involves glamour, fun, hard work and tedium. Tonight had it all. --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? : "" |
