A Word from Josh: OK, let's see if I've got this straight. West Bend has a live music series every Thursday evening throughout the Summer at the Old Settlers Park on Main Street called "Music on Main," but when they hired Cherry Pie for the series they moved the location a couple blocks south and called it "Musik Off Main" just for the one week? I'm not sure what to think about that. Anyway, a lot of rain fell mid-day which prompted many friends to inquire if our show might get cancelled. Our production crew arrived at the venue at about 1 pm and confirmed that we'd be playing in a large tent thus guaranteeing that the show would not be rained out. The rain stopped at about 3 pm and, although we didn't know it at the time, it would not return. This was a "twilight" festival (first set played in daylight and the second set played after dark) and it's not unusual for the energy level to jump sharply for the second set, but this was one of the most extreme examples of this phenomenon. The crowd for the first set was modest in size and very chilled. So we were very pleasantly surprised when the second set felt more like a crazy weekend show. Tons of people rocking out like there's no tomorrow. Event organizers were happy with the crowd but said there would certainly have been even more people if not for the threatening weather. Still, they told me that they sold a lot of beer, which is what keeps events like this going. Thank you West Bend for an exciting Thursday night. --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Ken: "Great show... Took plenty of photos too... Hope to see you again." |
