A Word from Josh: Let's be honest; no matter how we set up the stage at the Club Tavern, some people are going to be unhappy with it. This time we allowed people on the raised dance floor (like last time) which blocks the view of most of the people down on the main level. In an effort to address this, John again spent most of the show on an elevated platform set in front of the stage. We also made sure that Frank was on a drum riser as high as we could get it. In order to fit under the light rigging he had to lower some of his cymbals to heights to which he is unaccustomed which may or may not have affected his performance. In another odd variation of the Pie stage, I moved over to stage left which I shared with Dann while Dave played in isolation on stage right. Achieving the optimum arrangement of platforms and amplifiers on this stage is an ambitious and labor-intensive process that John described as "Rock and Roll Tetris." So, did all this intelligent design help more people see more of the show? Maybe a little. But there comes a point when you just gotta give in to the reality of the situation and just rock like there's no tomorrow and let the music rise up and expand over the mass of humanity gathered in the pub for a good time. And certainly a good time was had by most, including myself. But I must say that the highlight of my evening came when Frankie, as he often does, stood up on his drums during the first verse of "Don't Stop Believing" and somehow got his monitor wire wrapped around one of his legs. Upon realizing his predicament Frankie giggled briefly and set about to free himself, but his effort only led to becoming more entagled in the wire. I was laughing uncontrollably as I did my best to keep playing the piano part in time. Our reliable roadie Kevin came to the rescue and eventually released Frankie from the treacherous web, although I think it would have been a better use of Kevin's time if he had been shooting video of the entire incident. Ah such a glamorous life we lead.     -Josh VOICES FROM THE CROWD: Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Sarah: "Great times!" Sandie: "Had fun with the boys...." Bittersweeteus: "Club Tavern is a quaint bar. Kind of small but it has it's appeal. The stage is on a upper level and the dancefloor is on the main floor, which both don't give much room for the patrons or the band. CherryPie put on a hard rocking show. The songs in both sets were kick ass and well put together. John, who stands out with his own style and attitude, which is very intriguing, took control of the night and took us down that highway of rock. I had fun and an interesting night except for one thing. I have to say this was a little better than the last time you guys played here with the way the band was setup on the stage, but, with the patrons crammed in from the railing to the stage made it hard for the patrons on the main floor to see the band performing and what fun is provided for all. And to me, as long as you keep letting the patrons in front of the stage like you do, you are taking away from the whole concept of the show, and that's, to rock us all not just the ones that are just in front of the band." on the sidelines..: "As Usual, the show was awesome... always have a blast :), but the set-up there is a little odd. The additional lift of the stage was a good idea, but then makes the guys uncomfortable as they play... My thought's? Let the band come to the rail, and let people up on the stage, but only off to one side... that way EVERYONE is happy."
