A Word from Josh: Arriving at this venue we could immediately sense the ambition of this event. This was a defrosted ice arena, a very large room. It would take many hundreds of people to justify the space. Would that many people show up? That was the big question, considering the organizers were working in unfamiliar territory. The temporary stage, set up directly in front of the hockey team benches and penalty boxes, was also huge; one of the largest we've ever played on. That was pretty sweet. Our show works best on large stages. Our sound & light crew also made great use of the facility. We were confident that we could bring the Rock at a very high level under these circumstances. And as if from Rink of Dreams, we built it and they came. We started promptly at 8:00 as people flowed through the doors. By the end of the first set it was clear that the event was a success and had drawn the large crowd that we were hoping for. Proceeds went to benefit Stoughton Youth Hockey. This was truly our first Festival Show of the year, only indoors, which was very fortunate because rain was falling outside much of the night. The show went pretty smoothly. Early on, John showed off to the crowd his knowledge of Syttende Mai which he had researched on Wikipedia earlier in the week. The Nordic theme was reflected by some in the crowd, although many just knew of Syttende Mai as a good excuse to drink beer and listen to good music. Either way, the event organizers treated us great and we had a wonderful time rocking the night away with them. --Josh "Diary of a Roadie" By Kevin Tonight, we go ethnic. What that means for the show, nothing. But we celebrated Norweigan style in an ice-hockey rink. Chalk that up as a first. Let's roll... [more] Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Rebecca: ":) another great show guys!" Pie fans: "Awesome show guys! Had a great time and am looking forward to the next show-love the video's. You guys totally rock!" |
