A Word from Josh: Tonight was definitely a deviation from the norm, playing far from home on a Thursday night for a bunch of college students who weren't even born when most of these songs were on the charts. "We're a lot older than you," John declared to the tentative crowd early on. "Let me just establish that right now." But of course, this would not prove to be a problem as John loosened up the crowd with little sing-alongs and bad jokes. At one point he was teasing a young woman named Kira who was working on her laptop right in front of the stage. When he tried to get her to sing she had to admit that didn't know most of the songs. "Play something popular!" she implored. Finally we got to a song that she knew and we invited her up on stage to sing parts of "Don't Stop Believing." She was a very good sport and the crowd loved it. By early in the second set the crowd had sorted itself out, with the "early to bed" folks having left and those who remained dancing enthusiastically in front of the stage for the duration. This event was intended to honor the US Armed Forces and several young military veterans were on hand to party hard. The celebratory mood was no-doubt enhanced in the wake of last weekend's dispatch of Osama Bin Laden. One of the guys brought a large phony bomb which was placed on the stage and used as a prop at various times throughout the evening. We were treated great and had a great time. A big thanks to all the volunteers who put together a top-notch stage and sound/light system for us to play on, especially the guy who literally risked his life to hang our big banner above the drums. Ah, to be young and foolish. --Josh "Diary of a Roadie" By Kevin Let's roll... [more] Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Elaine: "You guys were amazing!
