A Word from Josh: This show was rife with its own set of challenges. Thursday night's record-setting rainfall made for soggy conditions. Given what has transpired in recent weeks, it was pretty amazing that no rain fell while we actually at the park. We played in a large tent just up the hill from the Main Stage where thousands gathered to watch Jackyl, Dokken and Cinderella perform. Our task was to play briefs sets between those shows and then one long set after they were done. We brought only our stage gear as this was a "production provided" gig, but we quickly learned that it was an exaggeration to say that production was indeed provided. We had to play through a weak PA system that lacked an appropriate number of microphones & cables and included absolutely no front-of-house effects. Fortunately, the human factor was on our side as we did bring our own soundman, Matt Wobst, who encouraged us all to do the best with what we had to work with. From all accounts, his performance under the circumstances was downright heroic. So we were able to put on a credible show which drew huge crowds each time we fired it up. Hopefully we made a good impression on the legions of 80s Rock fans in attendance, knowing that many of them had never seen us before. Indeed, if anyone wants to see us again soon in more favorable circumstances, we'll be playing several times in the Milwaukee area over the coming weeks. Check out the Schedule. --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Ann: "You guys rock! See you at the State Fair!" Linda: "Great Show as usual-the massive crowd prevented us from getting near the stage-again!!" Doreen: "I haven't seen you guys in awhile and I must say you guys still rock and your newer drummer is kick ass!" Brigitte: "loved it!" Major fans: "We had a blast! Thank you for making the long ride to see you worth it! What a great time, the music was awesome-watching the band was entertaining as well. John is so funny and has one hell of a voice. Lots of talent between the entire band. Can't wait until the next time-----" Julie: "We stumbled upon you in between Dokken & Cinderella and brought some friends back after Cinderella. You guys sounded great! Had no idea you didn't have appropriate equipment. We are already making plans to come back and see you!!!" Bittersweeteus: "Even though the show was broken up into three short sets, the guys put on one spectacular show. Each set got more and more invigorating with each song and CherryPie's extraordinary performance. The last set was off the wall and a great way to end a warm summer's evening. And John, who's one gorgeous frontman and very easy on the eyes, knows how to keep the fans coming back for more and make them feel part of the band. A lot of people came to the fair to see other bands and some of CherryPie. I, personally, traveled the distance to see my all time favorite band, CherryPie, because to me, they know how to put on a great show, keep up with the best, and always rise to the occasion!" Brian S: "Matt Wobst is an awesome sound guy... sorry to hear about your weak PA.. Im sure you kicked some ass at the show, hopefully people could see through the sound system and see the talent you guys possess..." |
