A Word from Josh: You've heard the expression... "You learn something new every day." Well, today I learned that it's not a good idea to put contact lenses in your eyes shortly after eating hot wings. Ouch, that stings! Anyway, this show lacked a lot of usual Cherry Pie elements. The small stage could not accommodate our lights and platforms and our bass player Shane was busy testifying before Congress seeking a bailout of the US Cowboy Hat Industry. Bailing us out was our buddy Kurt, probably the only bass player we know who is dreamy enough to fill Shane's shoes. Actually Kurt didn't even wear shoes on stage. I hope he didn't get any splinters. So, this was our first visit to this modest bar off our beaten path. Yet we did see quite a few familiar faces and several Cherry Pie T-shirts in the crowd. In the end it wasn't the most memorable night but I like to think that any night with Cherry Pie is better than hot sauce in the eye... DOH! --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Bittersweeteus: "Here I am, "Back on the Road Again" to see another CherryPie show. I arrive in a somewhat small town, East Troy, at a venue that's off the beaten path. It's not much to look at, but once inside it's quite large. The stage wasn't much to speak of either in size, but somehow it accomodated the band's equipment. The CP guys put on an outstanding show! It was three sets long which each one was filled with songs that kept us rocking until the end. And John, who looked downright sexy and debonair as he moved across the stage and dancefloor, sang each song with zeal and strong vocals. I have to say, after hearing the songlist from Badger Bowl and this show, this is the CherryPie that I remember. Playing those hard rocking songs that keep you on the dancefloor until you think you can't take anymore. I was really impressed with both shows and you CP guys proved that you sure know how to keep it loud, keep it hard, and keep it strong!!" DEAR SHANE: "HAPPY BERF-DAY! CAN I SPANK YOU 45 TIMES? THE EXTRA ONES ARE BECAUSE THAT'S THE WAY I LIKE IT !!! bottoms up,xoxo, like a ninja, Mary. P.S. Thanks guys for the happy birthday.....me, me, me." Well Josh,: "they say blondes are dumb....uhm. Did you go to college? Say maybe a masters? Really smart people lack common sense? Jerzee people rock hard & aren't afraid to "really" dance. They were fun and reacted to great performers ~ ~ whoo who ! !Shane mite have to work harder cuz Kurt was Gr8! ! ! Kurt just needs a his own ShaLo stance and learn head banding from the pro - me or not. bottoms up!" Kurt: "Thanks to everyone who came out and rocked with the Pie! It was a great oppourtunity to play with the guys live, after watching them half a million times (or so) over the years. It was a real challenge to cram 35 songs into my head and try to keep them all straight while entertaining on stage as well. I really had a good time and I was very flattered they thought of me to fill in for my dear friend Shane. I will use it as an additional feather in my cap as I send resumes to bands in Phoenix and Los Angeles in early 2009. Anytime I am home in the future, and the Pie needs a fill in, I sure hope they remember me right away as it was an experience I would love to repeat. It was kinda like good sex, without the sex. I still wanted a smoke after it was all said and done. Take care everybody! Hugs and kisses..." Debbie & Gary: "Well what can I say. Kurt you did an awsome job. We could see you really enjoyed playing again. We miss seeing you play. Looking forward to seeing you at Rooters on Jan. 9 with Shane and Frankie with Glam. But don't look forward to you moving away. I know it will be a hell of a night. Shane we missed you very much. Hope you had a wonderful vacation and a Very Happy Birthday. As for John you could tell that was not your type of place. But you sang your heart out and a job well done. Yes It is a nice place, but like you said the stage was to small for the band and the sound was not as good. Not many of the Pie gang was there. But we made the best of things and had a great time. Frankie, Dave & Josh no matter where you are, you guys always play your hearts out. You can tell that you really enjoy what you do. Can't wait to new years, We are going to have one hell of a party. See you at Kelly's on the 13th. XXXXOOOO" |
