Although you might not know it from the name, this event is a church festival, yet another stop on our "Drinking for Jesus" tour. The church in this case is the very elegant Saint Sava Serbian Orthodox Cathedral. Walking around the grounds I heard a lot of people speaking Serbian. The festival included stage shows featuring dozens of young people singing and dancing in beautiful, colorful (and presumably Serbian) costumes. The weather was perfect for our show which took place at the south end of the same open-access beer tent that we've played the last three summers. We were greeted by a great crowd who was eager to rock the night away. The show went pretty well, benefiting from an unconventional use of PA cabinets as stage extensions. Two years ago John made the bold move of riding a bicycle across this stage. Tonight he lowered the bar yet again by scooting around the stage on a skate board belonging to fill-in soundman Dan Babcock. What a rabble-rouser. As always, we saw plenty of old friends as well as new faces. Hopefully, we can keep this tradition going next year. --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Bittersweeteus: "Now this is what a CherryPie show is all about!! A night of fun-filled antics, high-spiritedness, and strong musical professionalism. These CP guys proved to the fans that they love what they do and have fun entertaining them. And John, who has the greatest disposition, always full of energy, and gets better every time I see him, kept everyone full of life with the way he rocked the place to the ground. It's something how the fans depend on CherryPie to show them a good time and in return, CherryPie depends on the fans to be receptive of them. I know I can trust these guys for a great time because it's comforting to know that we can have something in our lives we can believe in and have trust in." zeljan: "it was unforgettable for me. i've only been to a few pie shows, but this one really kind of made it for me. i can't wait to see you guys again." Mike: "this concert was awesome the best ive seen from you guys." Katelin: "This show was awesome. My first Cherry Pie show was at Summerfest but I was all the way in the back of the crowd. This time I was right up in the front of the stage. It was a memorable concert!" Cori: "Great show boys." Debbie & Gary: "Wonderful show. We had a great time. Thanks for the anniversary wishes. What a great way to celebrate our 23 wedding anniversary with the Cherry Pie gang. What a moment when we seen John going across the stage on a skateboard. It was a sight to see. Just hoping he did not fall. But he did it like a pro. The band keep everyone on their toes all night. Keep Rocking." |
