My primary impression of this show was that it felt like we were playing in a shoebox diorama. The banquet room we played in is plenty big, but the stage and the ceiling are low. There were a couple hundred people packed in right in front of us all night and it felt oddly intimate being so "face-to-face" with the front row. Several people commented on how close my head was to the ceiling when I stood on the upper tier of the stage. All this contributed to a feeling of being "boxed in," but it was not unpleasant. I mean, I like dioramas. Anyway, we wanted to draw well for this charity but doing so proved to be an uphill battle given the remoteness of the venue and the major festivals going on nearby in perfect weather. Still, we managed a respectable crowd of at least 300, many of whom stocked up on raffle tickets which benefited the cause greatly. John, Shane and I all had several relatives of all ages in attendance, some of whom were seeing the band for the first time (what's up with that?). Overall, the crowd reflected a healthy mix of new and familiar faces. There were moments during the night when the mood in the room seemed on the mellow side, but the crowd got plenty rowdy when it counted. After all, this was a Cherry Pie show. --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Bittersweeteus: "What a beautiful summer night to be out and what a better way to spend it with, is CherryPie. There was definitely room at this venue to dance and mingle among friends. CherryPie put on a good show but it kind of lacked that luster that I know these guys possess. And John, who looks great no matter what direction he walks or moves on stage, made it through each song with much zeal. One thing I've noticed about this show and ones in the past, is that, the CP guys performance can be based on how the crowd accepts them and/or what or whom influences their actions. My hat's off to CherryPie for giving their time to a worthy cause that is very personal to me." Hillster: "This was only the second gig I have been to because I don't go in the bars (I also attended state fair '08) and I just have to say..you guys are PHENOMINAL! I loved rocking out with you..and Shane..I'm keeping the guitar pick that you licked and stuck to my forehead. =) I am looking forward to the next time you guys play in a spot that I can attend..and this time..NO PHONE =) I will forever remember this gig.(probably because I had a blast and now have some awesome videos)" Jay: "You guys were awesome as usual!! Thanks for making our event an absolute total success!!!!" Jeanine Godina: "This was a GREAT show!! My husband Greg and myself traveled 2 hours to see you! It was well worth it!! We had a WONDERFUL time with all our friends!! Can't wait till the next show!!" |
