A Word from Josh:
Obviously, we knew coming in that this would be a great show. We knew that a State Fair crowd on the final Saturday was sure to kick ass and indeed they did. Unfortunately, circumstances dictated that we play this show without our drummer Frankie. Saddled with the daunting task of filling his cute little shoes for the evening was an old friend of mine, Von Eric. Von certainly wasn't going to match Frankie's sass or fashion sense, I don't think anybody can do that. But, as I've knows for years, he certainly knows what he's doing with drumsticks in his hands and he did an amazing job of learning the songs that we asked him to play. His performance ensured that we all could play with the confidence required to do a Cherry Pie show right. And I believe we did do it right. The crowd was very loud when they sang along, and they sang along quiet often. In fact, in a sense, the crowd bailed John out on "Home Sweet Home." He had just made a joke based on his mistaken belief that we were about to play "Slide It In." When I started playing the piano intro for "Home Sweet Home" he realized that he had misread the set list and started laughing, so much so that he couldn't sing the first two lines of the song. No problem as the crowd sang them so loud that we didn't miss a beat. But John wasn't the only one guilty of amusing miscues. During "Longtime" I accidentally stepped on my acoustic guitar cable which came unplugged at a humorously critical moment. I made another mistake later on when I started playing "Runaway" too soon and was left hanging when the rest of the band couldn't join in with me. Well, it's good to be able to laugh at yourself and tonight I was frickin' hilarious (and I haven't even mentioned my ripped pants). We are grateful to the State Fair and the Bud Pavillion for facilitating some of our most exciting moments over the last two summers. Tonight was yet another wonderful memory made.     --Josh

PS: Let's hear it for West Allis' own Chellsie Memmel who's rocking the world in China at the Olympics! GO CHELLSIE!!!

Cori:
"Great show. Thanks for always making it fun."

DD:
"We missed Frankie!! Great show guys. Eve 6 had a smaller crowd than you. You need to teach them a thing or two!"

Jennie:
"My heart just ached when I saw no Frankie, missed the little shit kicker. The sub did great but I love the theatrics and drama Trash brings. Still though awesome show, for the first time you took my voice, still workin' on getting it back, but it was worth it! See ya guys soon!"

Dawn:
"I saw you guys for the first time at the Fair Saturday night! :) You guys rock!! "

A little Bird:
"Somebody said Frankie wasn't there because he was gettin' married!!! OMG!!! Good for him because his woman is as beautiful as she is sweet! Congratulations guys!!!! But seriously... Frankie... you can't miss anymore shows because we LOVE watching you play :)
Till next time.... xoxo"

Bittersweeteus:
"Two shows in a row where CherryPie put on a exhibition that can only be described as, ass-kicking, hard-rocking madness!! They pounded out those songs with every inch of energy that they could muster up throughout their performances. And John, who has the sexiest smile and the most alluring sex appeal, rocked everyone's world with his intense voice and aggressive demeanor. Both shows were heart-pumping and had hardcore songlists which included two of my favorites that were brought back from the R.I.P. list, "New Girl Now" and "Breaking the Chains". You guys out did yourselves and John with the way you are, you'll always be number one in my book!"

Laura B:
"Great Show guys!! Had a blast as always, Von Eric was great but sorry to say just not the same without Frankie's theatrics! See you again soon, I'm coming to the Brat to celebrate my B-day with my Boyz!!! (Girlz too!) :)"

CP Fan from SP:
"TWO DOKKEN SONGS? WOW! Thanks for playing such a great show."

Howard:
"Another great night in Wisconsin! My first adventure at the State Fair, and I was quite impressed. the variety of entertainment and beer gardens was amazing! After wandering around for 4 hours, it was showtime, and what a show! the Bud pavilion was rockin' and you guys did a great job! We came away amazed again at the friendly people in the crowd. Every time we venture north, we come away feeling like we were just at our local tavern. All we need to do is figure out how to avoid all the construction in Illinois! Got home at 3 am, slept half the day Sunday, and can't wait for next time! It was great to see all the regulars ad meet a few new ones! Nice solid job on the drums by your super sub, too! Could have done with less Jet Favre references, but all we have is the crappy Bears to look forward to! See you at Brat Stop!"

Richard:
"We had a great time at the show. The crowd was up, the band was hot and the music was smokin’. I’ve read so far that the fans missed Flamboyant Frankie. I’ve gotta give praise to Von for doing an excellent job. What he lacked in stage presence he more than made up for in technical chops. He hit the mark on many of my favorites and gets my vote for Frankie fill-in if the occasion should arise again. I love seeing CP at fairs: During the break we heard “Wild Side” on the midway and I wondered… sure enough, it was in the second set! Thanks for rocking out the Honeymoon Suite, too. Can’t wait to see you in Madison again."

Debbie and Mari:
"This was one of the best performances we've seen from you. Loved Rock You Like A Hurricane. See you soon."

Donavan & Becky:
"Hi Guys! Sorry for the late entry. Sate Fair was cool and you guys were awesome!! Boy, that crowd was loud!!!!!! Sorry we didn't say goodbye after the show, but we sure had a great time!!! Up The Irons!!!"

Debbie & Gary:
"At first I did not know how the night would go with out Frankie. But the drummer that subbed for Frankie was awesome. He did a great job. Thanks Shane for the dances and the picture. You really know how to have a great time and make us feel good. You really had a great turn out and the crowd loved every minuate of the show. We did also. We really enjoy the early outside shows. Hate to see summer come to an end. It seems the younger crowd enjoys your shows. Josh, it was great to see Tammi at the show. The ring is beautiful. John, I wish I had have the energy that you do. You always give it all you got and keep the crowd involved. Dave, you are very gifted to be able to play the guitars as you do. Your different technics rock big time. All around A+ show. Keep on rocking. Love you guys. See ya soon."
Steven C Jensen:
"Great show I was at this one too."
