A Word from Josh: As a member of the band I'm not in a position to say if we're any good or not. But one thing that I can say with absolute certainty is that we have a LOT of crap! We rely on an excessive amount of instruments, amplifiers, staging, PA speakers and lights to compensate for our shortcomings and it can be a lot to handle. Apparently this was something that was not taken into account when this bar hired us. Not only is the space rather small, but another event booked for the room in the afternoon kept us from beginning our set up until a couple hours later than normal. Teamwork saved the day as we all pitched in to help Mark and Thomas get the sound and lights in place and we were able to complete our sound check more-or-less on time. More teamwork came into play when it came to our hair. With our usual hairdressers unavailable we were able to recruit Monica, Carol Anne and Rachel from the crowd to help with the task of embiggening our manes. Frankie and I agreed that it was pretty exciting getting "fluffed" by complete strangers. The ladies were enthusiastic and did an excellent job and we appreciate them helping out. Showtime arrived; every guitar was tuned, every cable was connected, every hair was cemented in place. And the fun commenced. The room was pretty full, which I admit isn't saying much given its modest size. But the crowd was very loud and quickly raised the excitement level to where it should be for an 80s rock show. Along the way we were treated to a "shot-ski" on stage along with many other displays of appreciation. An exciting moment came early in the second set when Frankie's drum set started falling apart and pieces of it tumbled of of the riser onto the stage below. "I guess I was rocking too hard," Frank explained to the crowd. As we often say... you can't stop the Trash, you can only hope to contain him! BTW, if you like your PIE served in more intimate surroundings such as this, you may want to come to our upcoming shows at the Knucklehead Pub and the BBC. It's all part our "Small Room Tour." Just remember, when you put Cherry Pie in tight places you can't be afraid to make a mess. --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Kitty Kat VonPaisley: "Best. Show. Ever. Cherry Pie peeled the paint off the walls and tore the roof off that sucker!" Jennie: "You guys rocked my world. Thank you for the special birthday tribute. It was awesome. I really did want more, more, more but too many drinks to catch the twist on words from John. Who by the way did a great job working on Frankie's drum mishap as he still sang. And Shane could not stop laughing. It was a fun, memorable Pie nite. See you at Liquor Sweets." Tammy T: "~ great time.. loooooooong overdue for me - missed everyone!!! See you in Eagle in 2 weeks by the "smiley water tank"" One in every crowd: "Your hair NEVER looked hotter!" Jeanine Godina: "HiGuys!!! You were SUPER GREAT!!!!! I loved standing on the chairs and dancing! I felt like a go-go girl!! Shane,I know you appreciated the BEER that Angela and I brought you!!! It was WONDERFUL!!!!!" Bittersweeteus: "This venue reminded me of those places that you hear about that are underground and have raves. The venue was dark, had low ceilings, smokey, and sultry. The stage wasn't much, but the CP guys always seem to make the best of what they are dealt with. Once they started to play, they transformed the place into a four-star establishment. The fans seemed to be intoxicated with the vibes of the 80's rock music. And John, who has great attributes and is full of moxie, kept everyone feeling as if they were involved with the band. This turned out to be a very fabulous night and one I'll remember for awhile!" Laura B: "OMG This was the best show yet!!! I had so much fun just rockin out and getting goofy! Glady you enjoyed the Panties Frankie! Every show I have been able to make it to has been better than the one before, I don't know how you do it! Also happy belated Amanda!! ROCK ON!! There just is no comparison to a Pie show! See you on 12/28 provided we don't have a blizzard!" Me, Me, Me, all about Me: "What am i going to do?!?! no cherry pie dec 21 or 22 - others, no pie dec 28 - madison, then dec 31 in waukesha...too long a wait...help ! ! ! gonna hafta steal a poster..." Angela: "Hey guys awesome show Saturday night, even though it was a nice cozy tight spot. Had a great time dancing along with Jeanine on the chairs felt a little awkward at first, then a little mischievous later on. It was well worth it. The music was great. And for you Shane did not mind being you little slave for a short time. Enjoyed it and do know you did also." Jen: "Awesome show guys!!! We had a blast!!!" |
