A Word from Josh: Mill Creek provides a rather unique atmosphere. That's what happens when you regularly cram 300 people into a space that's only supposed to hold 200. Yes, this was the place to be if you're really love your neighbor. This show was a celebration of togetherness. The view from the deep narrow stage is like that of a oversized sardine can, and the sardines were really rockin'! Frankie got so excited that he broke a head on his snare drum during the first set. That's rock n'roll! And so was the amazing collection of beautiful women sweating it out in the crowd. "Fox Valley was properly named," John told the crowd, "'cause there sure are a lot of foxes here!" He continued from there with a pretty funny impression of the SNL "wild & crazy" guys, a reference which seemed to miss the mark with many of the younger people in the crowd. Another special thing about this place is all the video screens all over the place. Mill Creek is big into 80s rock seven nights a week, playing videos from that era every chance they get. Tonight they took this a step further by playing the videos of the songs that we were playing AS we were playing them. The VJ could control the speed of the playback and most of the time had the videos perfectly synched to our performance. It was really cool in a bizarre sort of way. By the end of the night, the heat was starting to take a physical toll, but did little to dampen the enthusiasm of the crowd, almost all of whom stuck it out to the end. As has become a tradition at Mill Creek, we enjoyed some amazing pizza as we loaded our equipment out of the building. Mmmmmmmmmmm! --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Geri: "As usual the Pie kicked some major ASS!! The venue is a little cramped for me and I was feeling a little under par so I snuck out early :(. The energy of the crowd was amazing and the guys really fed off that energy!! At times the sound was a little below "Pie standard", but this was due to the size and acoustics of the bar not the band. Josh is right and you really have to love your neighbor to rock out at this place! All and all, the Pie is freakin amazing and I was bummed to leave. I have to get to another show soon to make up for it!!" Kip!: "Can't wait 'til you come back...which I hope is soon!?!" |
