A Word from Josh: This was our second festival show of the season and so far... so good. It was another smashing success (knock on wood). This was Cherry Pie's first time at this venerable and reputable event. I actually played this festival back in 1991 as a member of The Cheeters. Since then, a lot has changed in how the attractions and the beer tent are laid out, but the overall excitement has remained the same. Tonight's show drew a tremendous crowd, perhaps partially because our fans knew that this was the last time we'd be playing in Dane County for several months. It didn't take long for this beer tent gig to take on the feel of a large scale concert as the packed house really seemed to get into what we were doing. Along the way, a few people let their excitement get the best of them. Several times during the second set, groups of women joined us on stage for some bacchanalian bumping and grinding. It was definitely one of those situations where it was pretty fun the first time it happened, but by the third or fourth time it had gotten kind of annoying. As John later explained to the crowd, we have a lot of musical instruments and various electrical equipment on the stage, including some items that are laid out on the floor, and we have to really watch out for when people come dancing around. Still, it was all an indication of a very successful night for us. I'm hoping to return again a lot sooner than in another 16 years. --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? FunkMaster Wolf: "An amazing display of prowess, beer tent domination.... the amount of winning that took place was staggering and unprecedented. WELCOME TO THE PACK!!!" Lunda from Pec: "John always nails Separate Ways by Journey - awesome job. Also Mr. Brownstone/Guns 'N Roses absolutely killed it. Love everything John gets up there to sing. John, you're awesome! Keep up the fantastic vocals." Clint: "You rocked Verona friday night!" Bittersweeteus: "As you are encircled by all the activities that are going on around you, you slowly direct your attention to the stage to watch these awesome group of guys, CherryPie, lead you back into a era of the 80's where life was not so crazy. They play rock songs that help you escape and remember your youth when all you were worried about was pursuing your life long dreams. And John, who puts feeling behind those songs, reels you into a world of being carefree and wild. It's great to be able to relive those times, even if it's for a moment, and remember your travels down the street of distant memories." |
