A Word from Josh:
This show was special for several reasons. As usual, many people were celebrating birthdays at this show, but there were two that stood out. First, our own bass-playin' Shane couldn't escape notice for his advancement toward mortality. There was a time when he'd tear out your throat for drawing attention to his birthday, but in recent years he has relented to wearing silly hats and having baked goods thrust in his face. We were also celebrating the birthday of another close friend who unable to attend this show. Navy SeaBee Colleen was at our last BuBs show, but on the occasion of her 23rd birthday she found herself over 9,000 miles away serving in Iraq. The crowd joined us in paying tribute to her and those she serves along side. After the show at about 3 AM Colleen gave us a call during her lunchbreak (it was noon on Saturday over there). We passed around the phone and everybody got to wish her a happy birthday. Still, that wasn't the only sentimental part of the evening. We were also saying goodbye to Cathy, a good friend from Sheboygan who has been a fan from the early days. She'll be moving to San Diego next week. Overall, the show went well. Amongst all the hot music and birthday hijinx were many goofy moments. I got quite a surprising rise out of the crowd with a spontaneous tribute to Rick Springfield. At another point during the show a woman emerged from the crowd and identified herself as the younger sister of a woman that John dated many years ago. John was completely blown away. "She was such a sweetheart," he reminisced with a big grin, "and I was such a dick!" Speaking of dicks, toward the end of the show some guy in front of the stage actually seemed to challenge John to a fight. Perhaps he didn't notice John's impressive physique. Of course one moron wasn't going to spoil a great evening, in fact I think he just added some off-beat spice to what was already a fun-filled night with 400 of our closest friends. Truly it was a very memorable show.     --Josh

"Ok, so a night of great music ended on a note of one particular donkey. I don't think anyone was expecting a friday night smackdown, Johnny Spandex vs. The Donkey. Donkey lost!!! Anyhoo, good show and watch out for the unidentified flying objects next time! Hee Hee C-ya at Coconut Joe's!!!"

Donavan and Becky:
"Hey guys! It has been a long time since we have all seen you, but it was worth the wait. once again, you guys rocked the house! Great to hear "The Trooper"!!!! Hope to see you again soon!!!"

Colleen:
"It was cool to be able to play a game of "pass the cellphone" with the band after the show. Getting to talk to everyone was great, put me on one hell of an emotional high the whole rest of the day :D Happy Birthday Shane!!"

Mark Slaughter:
"A long time ago a friend suggested I take a 20 yard running start and run full speed into a brick wall. Even 15 cans of PBR did not make this sound like a good idea. With that said, I do not know what the guy that stepped up to Johnny Spandex was thinking. The only possible outcome for this idiot would have been the loss of several pints of blood, numerous teeth, and all of his dignity."

Bittersweeteus:
"The night air had a fridget chill to it and all it needed was a spark to get the warmth back into it. What a better way to provide that spark, was CherryPie. Right from the start they played songs that got the fire going. With their flaming performance and high-spirited attitudes, the bar heated up instantly. John, wearing his famous Slayer shirt and black leather pants, showed off his uniqueness and strong assertive attitude, used this to keep everyone in a rock 'n'roll state of mind. Even though we all had to go back out into that fridget air again, there still was enough heat from CherryPie to keep us warm til we got to our warm destinations."

Shawn Christine:
"It was awesome.. I was hanging in the front row like a groupie - how embarrassing - oh well thats what a couple of cocktails will do."
