| A Word from Josh: I'm excited that McRibs are back at McDonald's. I was able to enjoy one on the way to Racine. Little did I know that this would pretty much be the highlight of my day. Don't get me wrong, the people who came out to see us play were way cool and we appreciated them very much. But, I'd be lying if I said that the turnout wasn't disappointing. It was a bad sign when, shortly after we arrived at the club, we already started hearing excuses from local folks and staff about why tonight would be a "slow night". By showtime, we had been so indoctrinated by the prophets of doom that we were thrilled just to break into triple digits in attendance. Indeed, Racine has been very "hit and miss" with us over the years, and this was another miss. Still, the evening had its moments. Late in the first set a young woman, who had already been doing some sexy dancing, came on stage and gave the crowd a spirited lecture about how all men are filthy liars. It was actually pretty entertaining and inspired some clever one-liners from John and Shane. "This male-bashing portion of the show," said John, "has been brought to you by Estrogen, available at your local drugstore." Another highlight of the night involved Rico's spectacular drum solo. With only about 60 people left in the room, I'd say that at least 50 of them were closely following Rico's every move and applauding loudly. So, based on those percentages, I figured that, per capita, this was his most well-received drum solo ever. How's THAT for spin!? --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Loreen and Debbie: "Well, what can I say. Unfortunately more people didn't come out to see you guys ROCK, but those of us that did had a great time! Awesome night from beginning to end!" Bittersweeteus: "When we arrived, there was no one there, except the band, which seemed like the calm before the storm. Not many people showed up, but that didn't stop the CP guys from showing off their musical experises. They played with vitality and profoundness. John, with his alluring charisma, was able to get some of the people involved enough to go up and dance and participate in the show. Even though there wasn't alot of patrons, it's sometimes nice to have a somewhat personalized performance from the band. Kind of makes you feel important to be there. Also I need to mention about the new rendition of "Bed of Roses". I think it sounds really great the way you guys sing it now. Sometimes change can be good." |
