A Word from Josh: Four weeks ago we ended a long Madison drought at the Dry Bean Saloon in spectacular fashion. We certainly didn't anticipate tonight being even better, but that's exactly what it was. We've enjoyed a lot of great crowds at the Badger Bowl over the years, but I'm not sure I've ever seen such a sea of humanity from that stage. It was awesome. It was also quite hot. Much hotter than usual at this venue, but I suppose that's what happens when you pack so many people into a finite space. For us, the heat took its toll, making it more difficult to play our instruments and maintain our energy level. The audience had no such issues. They kicked us the face all night and really made the show memorable. During the first set we welcomed a friend to the stage. We had become accustomed to Katie shaking her stuff and showing some skin in the front row at Madison area shows. And now apparently she's putting those skills to use as the lead singer of a new band called Poor Rich Kids. Plus, seeing that she was also celebrating her birthday, we granted her wish of coming up and singing Joan Jett's "I Hate Myself for Loving You" with us. She certainly did not disappoint as she belted the song out convincingly while strutting her stuff in a way that was, well... downright distracting. During the break a lot of people spilled out into the hallways and parking lot to escape the heat for a few moments. The mild November night was the perfect remedy for the only downside of an otherwise great evening of 80s rock. As we returned to the stage for our second set, the crowd crammed themselves back inside for more hardcore partying. Yes, it's great to have Madison back in the schedule rotation. --Josh PS: We would like to pass on our condolences to the family and friends of Craig Thill, former manager at the Badger Bowl. He passed away unexpectedly last week at the age of 39 leaving behind a wife and young daughter. I did not know him well but I did work with him many times over the years and was a great familiar face to see whenever coming to the BB. Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Rhonda: "You guys Rocked Badger Bowl! This was my first experience with your band and you are awesome!! I will spread the word. Come back to Madison soon and my friend wants you to come to Duluth, MN for a show!!" ROCKIN REED: "What a Rockin show. Knew it would be a great show when a yellow school bus full of CP fans picked me up to celebrate my birthday. The crowd was electric with many first timers(virgins) present. Something about CP and birthdays that bring out the party animal in us all. Thanks CP for a great birthday. RR" Katie: "I also could not have asked for a better birthday celebration! I cannot thank you guys enough for letting me jam with you! Keep on rocking 'cuz I love me some cherry pie!" Rick Mitchell: "Cherry Pie does it again! Thats the headline! Great show, great set, great drinks, and great women! (See my pic Josh posted of me with CJ and Vicky) YOu guys impress me everytime I see you. Looking forward to the 17th of dec! It is my birthday and I could not think of a better way to spend it!" POYZNGRL: "'As usual Cherry Pie "rocked the house". It was great the have you guys back in Madison. This remains one of my favorite ways to 'escape real life' for a couple of hours. Thanks for working so hard to entertain us :)." Keri: "You guys rocked one sweaty house Friday night!! Katie you are hot!!" Bittersweeteus: "IF you want to forget about the cold weather arriving, this is the best place to go. The bar heats up to the point where the atmosphere turns torrid. As your eagerly waiting for cool relief to arrive, the CP guys appear on stage and perform hard and intense only to add more fuel to the already humid riddin air. Then there's John, with his never-ending vitality and perserverance, was so sweltering that you could have peeled the paint off the walls. All I have to say, is that, it felt good to finally step outside and cool off at the end of the show!!" |
