A Word from Josh:
Playing the Bud Pavilion at the State Fair has become quite a tradition for us. But this was the first time that we played here on a weekend and, quite predictably, this resulted in a packed house from start to finish. Playing here is always a mixed bag, with a Hellish load-in/set-up scenario and no light show, but the great crowd reminded us right away that it's totally worth it. This was one of those shows where the audience had it all, ranging from children to flashers and gropers. Oh, and let's not forget the silly hats. One moment of sublime absurdity came during Rico's drum solo when John and I walked out back to the alley behind the pavilion where we saw a staff member turn a hose on a guy who was relieving himself on the side of Dave's trailer. Just when you think you've seen it all'. We'll be back for more on Monday and Tuesday nights. Hey, that's a lot of Pie for one festival, I hope you guys can handle it because we'll be ready for you.     --Josh

VOICES FROM THE CROWD:
Were you at this show?
Would you like to comment on it?

Bittersweeteus:
"The performance of the CP guys made it feel as if you were in the beginnings of a storm. But usually after a storm has passed by it cools off, where these guys just kept it so torrid with no relief in sight. Then there is John, with his flaming physique and attributes plus he's so full of moxie, no wonder the heat just wouldn't recede. It was so disappointing when the show was over, but, you just wanted it to continue even though it felt as if you were going to melt. Great show, guys!!"
