| A Word from Josh: This was our first show back in Madison since Thanksgiving Eve at Pooley's. Tonight we had twice as many people in a room that's half the size. Quite predictably, the result was a rocking great time which generated a lot of heat on a very cold, blustery night. The show went pretty well and featured several songs that we had not played in a while including "Turn Up the Radio" and our Quiet Riot doubleheader. Another returning favorite involves this bit of trivia... A handful of songs that we've played over the years contain people's names in their titles such as "Beth", "Ah Leah" and "Little Suzi". But, do you know which name actually appears in the title of two of our songs? I'll answer it at the end of this journal entry so that you can think about it. Anyway, a lot of the usual hijinx went on during the show. The Dry Bean has always been good for a few good drunks putting on a show for us in the front row. During the extended guitar solo at the end of "Round and Round" some hot babes up front started playing spin the bottle on the front lip of the stage. At another point, I accidentally took the lyrics of "Metal Health" a bit too literally when I clocked John in the back of his head with the headstock of my guitar. I could tell it hurt him pretty bad, but I made it all better with a quick kiss. You know, considering how wild we often get on stage, I'm somewhat surprised that this kind of thing doesn't happen more often. This was our last Wisconsin show of 2004 and John did a heartwarming job of toasting the holidays. We certainly wish all of you a Happy New Year and we look forward to seeing you again in 2005. OK, as for the trivia question I asked earlier, the name that appears in the title of two of our songs is Tom (you were probably thinking it was a woman's name, right?). Interestingly enough (or not), tonight we brought back "Uncle Tom's Cabin", playing it in the same slot in the set that had recently been occupied frequently by "Tom Sawyer". --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? KAT: "Dry Bean shows are always interesting to say the least!!! We had a combo of an older crowd that stuck around after a Christmas party held at the Bean, all the way to tons of wild young college kids who just finished "finals" and were rowdy as ever!!! And you can always count on a good dirty dancing/striptease emphasis on the "tease" part to a girl/girl dance-a-thon in the front row!!!!! How you boys can still play under such stressful situations is beyond me LOL there's just so much to see!!!! *wink*wink*" Rockin Reed: "What A Rockin Party! New Years Eve came early at the Bean. You guys never cease to amaze me. Looking forward to more Rockin Adventures in 2005 with the PIE. See ya at Badger Bowl." guy in rush shirt: "hey this is my second time seeing you guys and you were awesome as usual but I wish you played TOM SAWYER...but THE TROOPER ruled so everything is cool. Also I see on your setlist that you play Cold Gin and Breaking The Law, that would be awesome to hear, but hell, do what you want because whatever you guys play sounds awesome, I don't even like Poisin I still sang along to MMSKINY Bop bop or whatever the hell it is...GOOD TIMES, ROCK ON! Rush and Iron Maiden rule as does Cherry Pie!(and I love that it is ironic that you guys don't play that song)" Bittersweeteus: "What a great way to kick off the upcoming holidays. With all the craziness that goes on this time of year, it's great to burn off all that stress with a rockn' band. The guys were able to bring about the holiday cheer with their high-spiritedness and electrifying performance and especially John's persona of a rock'n'roll clown. It seemed as though everyone had a great time and to all, Merry Christmas and have a safe and Happy New Year!!!" pistol: "my first cherry pie experience, it was a rockin show, my friend, reid rothchild from the area is a huge cp fan and i heard so much about cp i drove all the way to madison from maple grove, minnesota for the show, well worth the drive!!!" DIRK: "A "Rockin Show" had by all!! I was at a table of misfits that included Pistol, Reed and Little Bill that never stopped rockin. Don't think the Bean will ever recover from Little Bills performance of the electric slide during the intermission. January 21st this Motley Crue of misfits will once again "Tonight We Ride"." |
