A Word from Josh: This was our second consecutive show on a very large stage which felt great to move around on. In addition, the ceiling in the Pooley's volleydome is 25 feet high so our lights looked like something you'd expect to see at the Kohl Center. It's too bad that more people didn't see what may have been our best-looking show ever. Fewer than two hundred people braved the prospect of a Thanksgiving hangover to party with us. We had a great time and the show went pretty smoothly. Devoted fan Courtney was celebrating her birthday with several friends and was very glad to hear us play her favorite song "Love Song" by Tesla. Another dedication went out to Christie, a member of the US Army heading to Iraq soon, who requested "You Shook Me All Night Long". She joined us on stage during that song and strutted her stuff demonstrating exactly why terrorists hate us. She certainly earned a salute from Cherry Pie. As the crowd thinned down to a few dozen die-hard rockers we decided to end the show with Iron Maiden, simply because we love to play that song. But I must admit that it sounded strange for John to belt out this song about violence and death and then moments later wish everybody a Happy Thanksgiving. The mood remained light after the show, especially when Shane started messing around with some lighting equipment and, always the innovator, ended up doing something that I can only describe as "human truss bowling". I headed home where I had a pizza with my dog while watching an ESPN replay of my Cavs trouncing the punch-drunk Pistons. We've all got our own Thanksgiving Day plans and then we're back at the rock'n'roll thing on Friday up in Lodi. Yup, life is good and we are very thankful for all of you who indulge our musical hobby. --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Rockin Reed: "Great show!!! The White Lion Rocked. To bad there wasn't more people to see the CP Festivities. I vote Cherry Pie Madison band of the year 2004. Keep Rockin." Laura: "The show was awesome! Too many scaredy cats opting out of a fun night for family and no hangover. Silly people. Probably the best place to throw a CP concert: plenty of room." CJ: "This was my first time seeing CP - and was I impressed! Heard lots of great stuff about this band, now I know why. My friend, JJ, and I are definately hooked! Thanks for an awesome night of great music!" Bittersweeteus: "Pooley's was a great locale to see CherryPie. Plenty of space to dance, mingle, and just to have fun. The band filled the room with their hard rockin songs and their performance was outstanding. They never seem to let us down. John looked great especially in the shirt he wore for the first set. I know the turnout wasn't what was expected, but at least it didn't dampen the night. It still was an exciting time." |
