A Word from Josh:
There we were at Summerfest once again, experiencing all the excitement and stress that comes with it. In a lot of ways, this was a lot like our past Summerfest shows; big sound, great crowd, great response and familiar faces everywhere we looked. This year featured what was probably the best weather we've ever had here; not to hot, not to cold and no threat of rain. During our set John introduced "Talk Dirty to Me" by pulling out a piece of paper and reading a poem that he had written earlier in the day...
So, you're here at Summerfest walking all around
Then you start to hear a peculiar sound
Grabbing a beer you head to the Briggs Stage
Wanting to find out what's all the rage
Cherry Pie is playing big hair and all
Boy, that keyboard guy sure is tall
To hear some Poison now would really be neat-o
So, let's hear it for Monstro Libido!!!

That was pretty funny. I liked the fact that he didn't even tell us band members that he was going to do that, so it was really spontaneous. One thing that did not go according to plan involved the set times. Cherry Pie fans know that we like to play long sets, and in our past Summerfest appearances we've never taken a break during our shows. However, this time the powers that be enforced a mandatory break. This felt like a major momentum-killer. I suppose the short sets aren't a big deal, but we all know it's just not Cherry Pie's style. I know I'm knit-picking. Summerfest is always great for exposure, playing in front of big crowds is always fun and hanging out after the show is a blast. I walked up and down the grounds for an hour or two after our sets. I particularly enjoyed the Larry McCray blues band on the Potawatomi stage. But, it seemed obvious to me that the best band going in this prime time-slot was Milwaukee's own Rhythm Method who followed us on the Briggs & Stratton stage. I've always been a big fan of their brand of classic rock (I've played most of their set list in past bands) and they do it very well. Unfortunately, I did not stick around to see the Briggs & Stratton headliner Peter Frampton. He's one of those guys who I consider a legend, but who many of my younger friends have never heard of. Funny how that works sometimes. Well, it's a Thursday night and we've got a full show to do in just 24 hours, so it seems prudent to get some sleep. Perhaps some of you will come up to join us in Grafton.     -- Josh

VOICES FROM THE CROWD:

Kittykat:
"Ok since alot of my friends are starting to call me "Josh Jr." because i turn a comment on a show into a story i will just make it short and sweet this time!!! ;) The show was awesome!!! you guys looked great, sounded great and were tight as one of Rico's drums!! It was so great to see so many new faces and all of the usual faces too! Jas i love you girl, Christ and Lonnie you guys are so very cool, Terri remember (Hong-Kong) Greg glad you made it, Jewelz and Poison 100's of smooches for you, to the sexy cowgirl so good to see you it's been too long, loved being with my little broken shoe girl your so fun!!! Thanx Johnny for the song dedication you turned a crappy event into a funny one i will never forget :)so much for short and sweet........watch for photos Pat took some great ones!!!!!!!"

matthew slinde:
"Hey guys, Awesome concert at summerfest. I don't know if you noticed but for that time slot you guys had the most fans and retained the most fans throughout. Any band that can do that, considering the number of acts, is definitely noteworthy. Good luck with the rest of the tour!!
Matthew Slinde (impressed listener)"

Jewelz:
"Well after being up way late the night before at summerfest and dragging all day at work I was so tired, but once you guys started playing I immediatley found energy to dance away with all my friends (Kat, Michelle, Jody, Laura, Dawn, Lonnie, Christ, and of course Poison!) What a terrific show again this year. It was great to see such a huge crowd and loved the poem. This is always a fun show because everyone always seems to make it although we did miss Kip :( and it makes for so much fun because we all get to share in the pie together. John's new invention of distributing CP shirts to the crowd made sure that this year there would be No CP shirt stuck in the rafters of the Briggs stage, then again I think he took out a few fans!! And lastly the best seat in the house award has to go to none other than Diva Dad...since he had huge group of girls dancing right infront of him - seems that alot of the guys were very jealous of you - guess that might explain why his camera was going off non-stop...wonder what kind of pictures he was taking???"

Teri:
"Yes Summerfest!Awesome band CP.Fine friends Christ&Lonnie,Tammy,Kittykat&Pat.Saying hi to Kip's friend Terry.Beer,Beer,Beer.Great weather.I didn't even mind working all day Friday with a sunburned back(ouch!)because Cheery Pie is worth it!Life is Grand!Till than!xoxo"

Greg Godina:
"Last night was a blast, even though I did get there 5 minutes before showtime. It was also my first time watching Cherry Pie perform at Summerfest since becoming a fan of theirs at the State Fair last year. It was great to see some familiar faces,(KittyKat, Pat, Jewels, Lonnie and Christ, and others), and beach balls were thrown into the audience. I got bopped in my face by one of those things! Stuck around for another awesome performance of Rhythm Method. Some of us even went to see a Def Leppard tribute band, Pyromania, play at the Miller Oasis stage. Even though we did not get the best seat, they did put on a good show. Not as good as Cherry Pie, but still a good show."

Jason, SONIC RUSH:
"Just happened to be walking by when you guys started. Awesome show! All the shit I like and all the shit we play. Best band I heard at Summerfest this year by far. Keep on rockin!!"

Tim Irish:
"I think your band really rocks!!!!! AWESOME Performance. I would love to see you guys release some of your own music!!!!"
