A Word from Josh:
A great night overall, with a couple of interesting storylines. It was a busy day for John. After jamming with friends from out of town in the morning, he dressed himself up and sang at a wedding in the afternoon. But, this was not just any wedding. This was the wedding of the former Sharon Rowley, lead singer of the band Crush and frequent onstage guest of Cherry Pie. Apparently the wedding party liked what they heard from John because most of them made their way out to the Dry Bean for our final set to hear more. In keeping with tradition, the current Sharon York joined us on stage and sang "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'" while still wearing her Wedding Dress! What a sight, Madonna's got nothing on this blushing bride as Sharon totally electrified the large crowd. But the big story about this gig was the saga of Steve MacDonald, who agreed to fill in on drums for the night in place of Rico who was called out of town for an important classified CIA briefing. Without the benefit of a rehearsal, Steve played magnificently. But hey, why wouldn't he? After all, he was plenty warmed up from playing an afternoon gig with his band The Barbeez out in a Milwaukee suburb. That show ended at 7:15. Steve then quickly packed up his drums in the back of his pick-up truck and drove swiftly over to Madison. He arrived at the Dry Bean at 9:05 and frantically set up his drums in time for the show. With a Power Bar to keep him going, he really came through for us in a tight situation. When John told the story on stage, the crowd expressed their appreciation for Steve with a large ovation. So, for us, it was one of those nights where, considering the extra effort necessary to play, the great response from the big crowd was extra sweet.     - Josh

VOICES FROM THE CROWD:
Were you at this show?
Would you like to comment on it?

Jessy:
"It was nice to see the Pie back in Madison again. It has been awhile. Like always the show was great considering... It was also nice to see old friends, and also made a couple of new ones. Great show guys and I look forward to seeing you again real soon.
Love Peace and Rock~N~Roll"

Jamie Lee Moist:
"You guys were AWESOME as always, and it's amazing that the drummer Steve MacBigpipe, I think his name was, actually played two shows that day! what a stud-i-licious dudue. He is definitely a Cherry Pie type cowboy, AND PROBABLY HUNG LIKE A HORSE TO BOOT. (like a HORSE, get it? Cowboy?) he he he..."

Misty for Steve:
"I agree with Ms. Moist! That replacement drummer was a TOTALLY hunkalicious beefcake. I would lick his sweaty pits anytime. And I think his name was Steve MacDoggiestyle, not MacBigpipe, silly! Can't believe he played another show that day and still made it to Madison to entertain US with the Pie! And entertain he did...I'm embarassed to say that I went home moist (but all alone!) I hope he made it home okay, living so far away - he could have stayed at my place if he was too tired to drive. Oh well, a girl can dream, right? He has such a great physique too (Sigh.) Maybe the next time you guys need someone to fill in and his band THE BARBEEZ aren't playing, he can sit in again. I'll be waiting..."
