A Word from Josh:
It's been 3 years and 5 days since we last played this festival but I swear it only seemed like 2 years and 17 days. It was good to be back. This event takes place in the parking lot of the beautiful Port Washington Marina where all the area's best yachts are docked, including that of Fred and Mary Konchan who invited us to relax aboard their fine craft before the show, just as they did 3 years and 5 days ago. Their son Kevin, who I used to give guitar lessons to, was also on hand, about two feet taller than when we last saw him. We were the last of three bands to play. The band right before us was the Frank Tarantino Group, an old school jazz quartet that was very good but who set a completely different vibe than what we were about to bring to the stage. The crowd grew throughout our first set and we tried to build some momentum as darkness fell. Things went pretty well, but the schizophrenic weather gave us reason to worry that rain may bring an early end to the evening. A few drops did fall early in our second set but did not seem to impact the crowds desire for 80s rock. More damaging to our momentum was a fight that broke out between a couple of guys in the middle of the crowd. When the melee was finally cleared a huge gap was left in the crowd between the few dozen people up against the stage and the rest of the crowd which had withdrawn back toward the food shelter. "It's OK," implored John. "You can come back toward the stage. I promise you won't get beat up. In fact, if you don't come closer I promise that I will come out there and kick your ass." John's threats of violence eventually worked as the crowd really came alive down the home stretch. The festivities included a celebration of Rico's birthday. The crowd included friends who had come from such places as Sheboygan, Madison, Chicago and Virginia. They all helped it make the event a lot of fun for us. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to head over to the Home Depot to have some keys made.     - Josh

VOICES FROM THE CROWD:
Were you at this show?
Would you like to comment on it?

Rick:
"I just caught the last set at Lion's Fest here in Port. It's the first time I saw the band. Absolutely fantastic!!! It's about time somebody resurrected the best music that ever was."

Peter B:
"What a breath of fresh air. This was truely the best cover band experience I have seen in a very long time. Cherry Pie had great songs, lots. I will be back for more. My wife also loved the band, but was frightened by the large armadillos in their pants."

Shelly K:
"I decided to cause a small ruckus of my own by bringing an air horn in a can to the show. I was embrassing Karen too much so I gave it to John to use on stage. Little did I know what a monster I let loose-I really feel sorry for his coworkers when he goes to work this week-it's payback time! We had fun even though the fight broke out. We thought it was a good show. The new additions to your play list are good choices. Catch you soon."
