A Word from Josh:
I think Rooters has figured something out. This the second consecutive time they've booked us to play coming off of a break of at least three weeks. The result both times was a pretty outstanding show. Sure, we may have missed a few more notes than usual but also had extra energy and extra spunk. The crowd responded in kind with a great performance of their own. During this latest time off I was fortunate to see a lot of other bands including (in alphabetical order) Bon Jovi, The Boogiemen, Dokken, The Goo Goo Dolls, The Heroes, The Metal Men and Road Trip. You know, over the years I've made a nice little career for myself as a member of some pretty good cover bands, and the one predominant skill I've gained from that experience is the skill of plagiarism. Yup, I'm all about assimilating ideas from others and I certainly got a lot of good ideas from all those fine bands. In fact, I think one of the reasons I hit the stage at Rooters with so much energy and good vibes was because of the inspiration I got from those other shows. Another reason I was in a good mood was because my birthday is in a couple of days and a lot of friends were helping me celebrate. Yet again, Maribeth came through big time with a delicious home made cherry cheesecake to mark the occasion. I also got cards and gifts from others including Lisa, Shannon, Suzy, Jenny, Erika, Lynn and Patty. When John announced my birthday on stage I assumed the position to receive the traditional Cherry Pie sticker-on-the-ass birthday treatment, but John declined to follow through with it. Fortunately, we found a couple of volunteers from the audience who were more than eager to do the job. Everybody was so great all night. I really appreciated the super vibes coming from people I was meeting for the first time as well as familiar Cherry Pie faithful including Julie & Stef, Julie & Carrie, Julie & Rachel (that's a lot of Julies), Cheryl, Dawn & Sam and Marlena & Linda. Tiffany and Dawn took the evening a step further by reserving part of the upper level to host their own private "80s Party". It was all part of a great night that will always be particularly memorable for me. John invited the crowd to come out to our show next week at Kelly's II adding that we could "tear the roof off" if we had the same kind of crowd as we did on this night.     - Josh
